Morris council gets complex update Bill McGrath and Grant Currie of the Huron Bruce complex committee met with Morris Twp. councillors, May 2, to discuss funding for the project. After saying the groundbreaking for the project will take place May 15, McGrath and Ctirrie said the committee is looking to cut $432,443 from the total cost with a possible $40,000 to $50,000 more to come. Wingham will sign the three contracts for the project. The project will have to be debentured or a loan secured to cover the remaining $1.5 million cost. Some portions of the work will have 10-year warranties, others just one. Council was asked if they would consider donating further funds. No decision was made. Council approved the Brussels, Morris and Grey board of recreation management budget with the amendment which put $10,000 back into capital reserves. A credit of $14,498 was received for police service costs. The recreation budget in the amount of $313,377 was approved. The road budget, in the amount of $701,500, was approved, subject to transition board approval. In response to a letter from the Blyth soccer organization, council agreed to reconsider the grant request if the area for the new field was properly rezoned. The quote from Da Lee Dust Control for 280 imperial flake tons of calcium chloride, at a price of $222 per ton, was approved subject to agreement from the transition board.
