Well, the new executive

active interest in how the Legion is
run.
Stepping into the vacant second
vice president position is Comrade
Mike Vader moving from the execu

from assistant secretary to secretary

There are chairman positions of
various committees still to be filled
and anyone wishing to become more
familiar with the Branch is asked to
contact President Linda Bird at 887-
6552 or the Branch.
Euchre was held Saturday with 13

Tea with grandma
Little Brookelynn Bos had a seat of honour on Great
Grandma Pat Hunking’s lap as several members of Great-
Great-Grandma Sarah Anderson’s family gathered at
Huronlea in Brussels to mark Mother’s Day with a tea, May
12.
Well, how is your mother? I hope
you remembered Mother’s Day with
a call or visit. I’m sure you already
know there’s nothing more danger
ous than a miffed mother.
There were lots of folk in the vil
lage celebrating family and love on
the weekend.
The high school crew at F.E.
Madill had a successful run of the
musical Fame. The hard work and
practice was evident and we salute
the Brussels talent, actors Justin
Ruttan, Ashley Gropp and Mandy
Sellers, pit conductor and lead gui
tarist Joshua Gropp and chorus
member Tricia Teeft.
Hello Laura Smith. Sorry about
your hip,
St. John Ambulance volunteers,
co-ordinated by Deb Trollope, spent
Sunday supervising the health and
safety of the Walton Motocross par
ticipants. St. John is co-ordinating a
blood donor clinic on June 20 at the
arena. You’re eligible to give the
“gift of life” if you’re between 17
and 71. Mark that day to share life.
Queen Victoria, a descendant of
Joan Jacobs, was seen smiling on
Saturday at the United Church. I
think it was the pie, or perhaps the
pipes and drums of Mary Ann and
John, but either way she says she’s

The three hosting Brussels stu

We apologize for the error and any

Looking for local heroes
There are so many people out there who do
so much to improve their community.
Now you have a chance to say thanks.
Nominate that special person for the 14th
Annual Citizen Citizenship Awards.
Each year a committee chooses an outstanding citizen from each of
the Blyth and area and Brussels and area communities to receive an
award for contribution to the community. If you know someone you
think should be honoured, please fill in the ballot and send it in. You
may attach a longer explanation of why you think your nominee
should win, if you like. If you have nominated someone before and
he or she didn’t win, please feel free to try again.
I feel she/he deserves this award because
