The Citizen, 2000-05-10, Page 3THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 10, 2000, PAGE 3. Speaker talks of life By Kathy Bromley On Friday, May 5 Blyth Trinity Anglican Church held 47 people who attended the monthly meal host ed by the Town and Country Homemakers. Extra help this month was sup plied by Paul Johnstone of Brussels. Guests from Seaforth Manor includ ed Mary McDougall and Murray Rollinson who were escorted by Charlene Foxton. Susan Armstrong welcomed everyone and thanked them for showing their support. After telling a cute joke, she then asked the guest speaker, Gabrielle Del Bianco to say grace. The mouth-watering meal, pre pared by Millie Hoggarth, included tender chicken breasts covered with a tomato sauce, oven-roasted pota toes, mixed garden vegetables, coleslaw and all the trimmings. This was topped off with lemon meringue pie. Those present celebrating birth days for the month of May included Rene Hulzebos, Marj McDougall, Ted East and Bernice Anderson. Happy Birthday was sung to all. Compliments of Isabel and Bill Craig were four beautiful geranium plants donated for door prizes. Winners included Mr. Hulzebos, Kathy Bromley, Ted East and Jean Nethery. This month the 50/50 draw amounted to $13 and was won by Murray Rollinson of Seaforth. Susan Armstrong then introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Del Bianco of Auburn. His presentation was noth ing short of inspiring, centering around simplicity of life in general. He stressed that personal stones are not just stories, but rather, “words of wisdom”. It is something inside of people that keeps them going, not the outer surface. “We are to enjoy life for each and every moment while we can,” he said. A comical joke was told about a senior couple who were out on the porch sitting in the swing. She said: “Remember when we used to sit. close?” So, he moved over beside her. “Do you recall honey how you used to put your arm around me?” So, he automatically put his arm around her. “Remember when you used to nib ble on my neck?” He then got up off the swing and proceeded to leave. Shocked, she asked “Where are you going?” He replied “To get my teeth!” Mr. Del Bianco is currently writing a book on stories in their lives that people have shared with him. If you have any experiences or special events that touched your heart and you wish to share, send it to him in Auburn. Humorous ones are also welcome. Mr. Del Bianco was thanked for his presentation. The next Diners meal will be on June 2 and everyone is invited to attend the Seniors’ meal. Kathy’s Quote of the Week: Remember these trying times will be the “good old days” in just a few years.
