The Citizen, 2000-05-10, Page 2PAGE 2. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 10, 2000. NEWS FROM BRUSSELS Council hears report By Bonnie Gropp Citizen staff Brussels council at its May 1 meeting briefly discussed the work of the Huron East transition commit tee to date. It was noted that it had been agreed to renovate only a portion of the Seaforth Town Hall in readiness for administration. “(It’s) to get the staff in and up and running,” said Clerk-Treasurer Donna White. Firm costs were to be available by the next meeting, which was May 8. Councillor Joe Seili questioned why an architect was needed for the project. Reeve Ralph Watson said it was his understanding that for this type of work, an architect is a requirement of the code. “It’s always easier to work with new, but I still think this is fairly affordable,” said White. “We are not going overboard,” said Councillor Mary Stretton, a member of the transition committee with Watson. His response backed her up. “This is not goings to be a luxury budding by any means.” If just 1% more Canadians were physically active, annual savings in health-care costs could be as much as $12,000,000.
