The Citizen, 2000-03-08, Page 2PAGE 2. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8, 2000. Smiling faces, satisfied appetites Four-year-old Adam Cousins was all smiles as he enjoyed the leap year luncheon held at Brussels United Church last Thursday. Also filling up on the delicious offerings were Merle Cousins, left, and Sheila Cousins. A Note from Betty Now doesn’t that dirty grass on your lawn just make you wish for another foot of snow? It really does wreck a nice sunny day gazing at all the branches and garbage that needs attention when you’d rather just enjoy the weather and not have to work already. Oh well, this too shall pass. I hope you attended the World Day of Prayer last Friday. It’s one of those gatherings that has been part of our community forever. It was held this year at the Mennonite Church with participation from all our churches. World Day of Prayer has been happening on the first Friday of March since early in the 20th century and at present the same service is conducted in 170 countries. That’s pretty awesome! Our girls that play with the Seaforth Marching Band are getting their suitcases ready for their trip south of the border. They’ll be spending their March Break sunning and playing up a storm. Have a great time girls. The critters know about the change in the weather. I can’t believe how many of the little dears, and yes, deers, are out at the side of the road at night now. Ah spring. If you're between 17 and 71 - your body is needed at the high school in Wmgham on Thursday afternoon or evening. A blood donor clinic is being held and as usual your donation is badly needed. For less than an hour of your time you can help seven other people with their health problems. Pretty good returns I’d say. Give a little of yourself. Ask Lori Pipe - not Gary - I repeat - not Gary about investment techniques. Bye now, Betty G. Anyone with stories or news about the Brussels community contact Betty at 887-9231.
