Food advisor program seeks volunteers The Community Food Advisor Program of Huron and Perth is looking for volunteers. “Anyone interested in food and working with people will enjoy this program,” promises Sandra Kreis, a community food advisor. “People who volunteer to be community food advisors learn all about food - how to select healthy food, prepare, preserve, and store it safely.” After they complete a training program, they work in the community to share what they have learned. An information meeting about the program will be held on Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Town Hall, 169 St. David Street, Mitchell. Details about how the program works will be provided and participants will have an opportunity to meet with certified community food advisors who already volunteer in our community. The program was developed by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Locally, the program is administered by a group of agencies from Huron and Perth Counties. Volunteers receive 70 hours of free training from fooo, nutrition and food safety experts. After successfully completing their training, they become certified. To find out more information Blyth to attend PUC meeting Bly^ councillors were told at the Feb. 23 session that they and the PUC had been invited to attend a meeting, March 2, between Wing­ ham council and PUC and Acres International regarding the incorpo­ rating of a local distributing com­ pany for hydro. A letter to Blyth councillors from PUC Commissioners Tom Cronin and Dale Whitfield detailed their position with regards to PUC about the program, people are encouraged to attend the information meeting.
