The World Day of Prayer will be
held on Friday, March 3 in the
Knox Sunday School room at 2
p.m. The service was written by the
Women of Indonesia.
This is a time to strengthen the
bonds of Christian unity, share faith
in Jesus Christ, be enriched by
other faith experiences, pray and
take action for social justice. World
Day of Prayer affirms that prayer
and action are inseparable and that
both have an immeasurable
influence in the world.
The theme is Talitha Cum! "

Crimestoppers
takes calls on
domestic violence
Domestic violence can now be
reported through the well-known
Crime Stoppers program by calling
1 -800-222-TIPS. As with all calls
to Crime Stoppers, tips regarding
domestic violence will be
completely anonymous.
“Crime Stoppers works to help
solve all types of crime,” said Ed
Lemont, president of the
Association of Ontario Crime
Stoppers. “But this is the first time
in Canada that domestic violence
has been specifically addressed by
Crime Stoppers. We are very
pleased that our program can now
be used to help deal with crimes of
this nature.”
This new initiative came about
through the efforts of Crime
Stoppers, the Ministry of the
Solicitor General and the Ontario
Women’s Directorate. Ontario is
one of the first areas in Canada or
North America to take such an
innovative approach to deal with
domestic violence.
“Domestic violence is
unacceptable and will not be
tolerated in Ontario,” said Solicitor
General David Tsubouchi. “It is
heartening that such a credible and
well-recognized organization such
as Crime Stoppers is working with
us in our efforts to halt domestic
violence and ensure community
and personal safety.”
