A Note from Betty
That wee touch of spring on Saturday was a nice piece of entertainment.
That’s the only way to describe it - entertainment. We well knew it
wouldn’t last tong, nice touch but now just a memory.
Several of the university crowd were around last week as they caught up
on their reading and assignments. The workload they carry is staggering and
so they really need that break to catch up before the April exams. Hope you
got lots accomplished.
Jean Workman was thankful for that reading week as her granddaughter
Dana Aitken took time to check on her and also to show her a new poster
advertising the University Nursing program. One of the sweet faces on that
poster is Lynn’s daughter - Dana. Jean now has her own personal poster
girl.
Beth McCauley’s family and friends said good-bye at her memorial
service on Saturday. Beth’s quiet dignity and friendly manner were her
trademark as she went about her life here in the village. Good-bye Beth.
For something new next week plan to attend the community Ash
Wednesday service at the United Church at 7 p.m. If it’s already Ash
Wednesday that means we’re heading into the season of Lent with all its
significance.
To celebrate Leap year - join the feasting crowd March 2, 11:30 a.m. to 1
p.m. at the United Church. It’s good for your indigestion to eat with others.
I can’t believe we’re into the third month of this new century. I sure must
be having fun for the days just keep slipping away.
Bye now,
Betty G.

M. Huether hosts Guild
Melville Presbyterian Church
Women’s Guild met at the home of
Mary Huether on Tuesday, Feb. 15
at 8 p.m.
Mary Huether opened the
meeting with poems entitled
“Love” and “Valentine Day”.
Jeanne Ireland read the scripture
passage from 1st John, 4: 7-12 and
18-21. Mrs. Huether led in prayer.
Mrs. Ireland gave a topic entitled
“Let’s Think About Love”.
Christians should always be
thinking of love for others. At
different periods of life they need
different kinds of love. A baby
needs its parent, a young man or
woman needs the love of a
sweetheart, parents growing old
need the love and care of their
children, all people need the respect
and love of their neighbours. All
these kinds of love are great and
important, yet the love of Christ is
greater and more precious than any
other, she said. The love of Christ
a
dialog entitled Parable of the
Shapes.
The annual Maytime supper will
be held Sunday, May 28. Everyone
is invited to the World Day of

McNair offered to be in charge of
the March meeting. Mrs. Huether
conducted a “Name” contest.

The regular meeting of Morning

and meeting on March 1 in Exeter
to meet the Vice Grand of the
Rebekah Assembly of Ontario
Sister Mytre Hull.

Sisters Association of North Huron

ATTENTION EVERYONE
The Brussels Optimist Club is now looking for

come true for at least one terminally-ill child in Huron
County.
We are hosting an all-you-can-eat German meal
catered by Tastefully Yours Catering (Laurie Trower),
an auction to make these wishes possible followed by
a 50s-60s dance.
We are looking for donations for the auction, with all
proceeds going to the Make a Wish Foundation.
If you could make a donation to this worthwhile
cause, please contact Don Sholdice 887-6836 or Gerry
Wheeler 887-6233.
