5 tables in play at euchre
Five tables were in play at euchre
at the Cranbrook Hall last Friday,
despite dire warnings of a winter
storm, which did not materialize.
Euchre results are as follows:
high lady, Lois Schneider; high
man, John Subject; low lady, Iola
Subject; low man, Bob Bremner;
most lone hands, lady, Joanne
Hinz; most lone hands, man, Ken
Crawford; traveling lone hand,
Verna Crawford; tally cards,
Maxine Hinz, Doug Hamilton,
Shirley Verstoep, and Art Hinz.
50/50 draw, Brenda Perrie.
The Hall board thanks Yvonne
and Leslie Knight, Joe and Bev
Smith and Brenda Perrie for
hosting the evening. Without
volunteers like them the Hall board
could not operate.
Happy Birthday to Chad Terpstra
on Friday, Feb. 25. Have a good
time in the caboose at Macdonalds.
John and Nancy Vanass and John
and Marg Saxon visited Grand
Bend to see the snow sculptures.
However the mild weather had
played havoc with what must have
been a very pleasing display.
Bd. sits in
on council
The Hall board members
attended the Grey Twp. council
meeting and the situation of the
Halls of Ethel, Moncrieff and
Cranbrook was discussed. It is
anticipated that when the East
Huron Twp. amalgamation comes
into being there will be changes in
attitude towards upkeep of
community halls. Those halls that
have operated financially
independent of the township will be
able to continue while others
dependent on financial input from
the township funds will not be able
to get much assistance.
As there will be fewer
councillors, the relationship
between the Hall Boards and the
Government will change to a more
distant one. The meeting was held
to inform Hall Boards of the
coming changes and to encourage
thinking about the new
relationships between Hall Boards
and East Huron council.
