Village buys signs as reminder to pet owners Continued from page 2 presented at the March meeting.♦♦♦ The village has bought four signs at a cost of $45 to remind pet own ers to stoop and scoop. These will be posted at the school, at the pool and at both entrances of the conser vation park. *** Dog tags must be purchased by Feb. 29. White said that less than one-third had been sold to date.*** The pound fees for Clinton Vet erinary Service have changed. They have remained the same since 1994. The administration fee for each animal is $I5. Euthanasia is $25 per animal. Burial charges are $25 for ani mals under 20 lbs; $30, 20-30 lbs; $35, 31 -45 lbs; $40, over 45 lbs. Vaccination of animals placed in homes or with the Human Society will cost $25 for distemper and $25 for rabies. All animals impounded during office hours will be charged the above fees. Out of hours will be charged a $35 fee. Injured animals will be treated as deemed necessary to be humane, by the vets. The costs will be the responsibility of the town or town ship. Councillor Joe Seili questioned why Clinton was where the animal were taken when Brussels had its own vet. White explained that there was no pound at the Brussels office. *** A new calculator is being pur chased at a cost of $ 149.99. *** Concerns were expressed about a person who habitually ignores the no-parking area on main street. Road Superintendent Hugh Nichol is to discuss the matter with the driver. Council wrote off an old business tax in the amount of $120.47 on the books since 1997 for Bruce Henry.♦** A building permit was issued to Alfred Mawhinney for a carport enclosure.♦** A letter has been sent from the county to the residents of Morris Twp. at the northerly village limits regarding their desire for annexa tion. The county states that bound ary adjustments can be considered after amalgamation in 2001 if both municipalities involved are in agreement. Once the restructuring proposals are approved any negoti ations would be with the transition committee of the two newly amal gamated municipalities. The draft services plan for the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority shows a two per cent increase in the levy.♦♦♦ Council endorsed several resolu tions. The first from the Municipal ity of South Bruce asks the provincial government to realize the importance of the agricultural industry and continue a level of funding that reflects that impor tance. A second resolution from the City of Niagara Falls petitions the federal government to amend the Young Offenders Act so it would be a deterrent to young offenders. A resolution from the Twp. of Colborne with regards to manure spills was endorsed as was one from the City of Woodstock asking the governments to fund health care sufficiently to reduce the patient waiting list.* * GONG.
