Focusing on “Under the Sea” and the story of Jonah and the whale the children played games, heard tales and created treasure boxes. The church also offers a children’s program each Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., beginning in the fall. Eight current and one past member of the Londesborough Cheerio Club met at the Bayfield Berry Farm on Wednesday, Aug. 20. They enjoyed a meal in the restaurant there. Then Genevieve Allen welcomed all to her summer home at Pine Lake. Dorothy Johnston opened the business part of their afternoon with a reading, Giving encouragement to Others. Roll call followed. Edythe Beacom won the gift of the month given by Dorothy Johnston. The ladies reminisced over photos of Cheerio Clubs from the past. A most pleasant afternoon together concluded with card playing. They were tooting in celebration of the marriage of Jennifer Jackson and Nathan Hubbard. The wedding ceremony took place in Knox Presbyterian Church in Goderich. Certainly we all appreciate their willingness to devote time and energy to keep our little village connected. Thank you new committee members. This time next week, school will have resumed for the fall term of the 2003-2004 school year. The summer seems to have flown by but it will be pleasant once again to see and hear the children back in Londesborough. However, we will all need to be more aware of the young folk and the yellow buses as we travel the streets of the village and area roads.
