(Bonnie Gropp photo) A NOTE FROM BETTY By Betty Graber Watson Call 887-6236 887-9231 If the beef farmers had any doubts that our community didn’t support them, last Wednesday evening should put that one worry to rest. Anyone with a clue about farming realizes the seriousness and the helplessness that surfaces when markets change. So when the opportunity to support the farmers (and the many, many related businesses) with our presence and to eat beef was offered - our good folks by the hundreds came and enjoyed Thank you to the many groups who organized and worked on behalf of the Great BBQ. It was marvelous - great food, good music, lots of generations gathered to celebrate and support our farms and our farmers. No need to ask “Where’s the Beef?” - it was everywhere with the full support of community. 1 nearly turned back from work on Thursday night - the visibility was like a January night with only an Early Literacy Centre Inc Walton's Little School (519) 887-8440 Huron County's First Early Literacy Centre is currently accepting a limited number of Registrations for the 2003-2004 school year Toddler Program z Jr. Preschool Program Sr. Preschool / Kindergarten Program After School Program Limited Number of Spaces! Oh my - the power of nature is a sight to behold and of course needs to be held in awe. It would have been significant to call into work due to visibility in August. Dam, missed that chance. The folks were busy on Friday gathering sticks, limbs and other blown bits from lawns and lanes as the storm damage was assessed. One of our great old maples was hit and now shows a great cavity in the trunk resulting in about half of the branches resting on the patio just missing several pieces of lawn stuff. So we’ll have campfire wood for a while. The countdown is on. The kids are starting to think about that first day of school but be nice and don’t tease, that is coming very, very soon.
