Hoax?
When a second crop circle pattern appeared in a grain field off McNabb Line in Grey,
observers and the property owners were quick to denounce it as a forgery. Here, two amateur
researchers from Waterloo take a closer look, (jamce Becker photo)

NEWS
FROM CRANBROOK
Couples mark
anniversaries
Area couples celebrating wedding
anniversaries are Frank and Kathy
Workman this week and Leslie and
Yvonne Knight next week.
Chris and Shelly Smith held a
Nesbitt family reunion on their farm
Sunday, Aug. 17. Thirty-five people
attended.
With all the talk about the effects
of the double cohort, there is one
group of new high school graduates
that has not received much attention
- those who have not applied for
admission this fall to a college or
university.
For members of this group, who
may still want to explore options, as
well as for post-secondary
applicants who were unsuccessful in
gaining admission to their programs
of choice, Conestoga College will
offer a specially focused program
beginning this September at the
College’s campus in Waterloo.
Employment Training/Readiness
is a full-time, 10-week program for
2003 high school graduates who
want to consider whether college,
university, an apprenticeship or
employment is the best individual
choice.
All participants will be able to ask
important questions and find
appropriate answers in areas such as
investigating jobs and careers,
looking at educational opportunities,
and exploring individual interests
and abilities. Some may then
proceed to enhancing specific
academic skills in English,
mathematics, computers and/or
science.
Working individually and in small
group settings with expert faculty,
each participant can work towards
developing an attainable plan of
action.
The cost of the 10-week program
is $520, and full details are available
by contacting Alice Kerr at the
Waterloo campus of Conestoga
College at 519-885-0300, ext.
224.
