Eleanor was bom in Grey Twp. on Nov. 11, 1911. The only daughter and the youngest child to James Knight and Christena McNeil she grew up with her seven brothers Russell, Gordon, Alfred, Walter, James (Elmer), Hector, and Goldwyn on the farm east of Cranbrook, on the 12th Concession of Grey (Cranbrook Line). Eleanor attended Listowel High School and Stratford Normal School and taught in several schools including Walton and Glen Allen.
