The burial service was held at Ball’s Cemetery last Friday. After the service a luncheon was held at the Auburn Missionary Church. Condolences to Joyce and Dave Wesselink on the loss of their son Jesse Nicholas David last week. Happy birthday to Sarah Moss who celebrated her third birthday Skeptical shopper Amy Taylor of Wingham gave the merchandise at the St. Helens rummage sale a good going-over before she made her choice. Lois Haines had Ed and Margaret visiting last week for three days and is looking forward to a visit again this week. Marg and Charlie Fraser had their granddaughter Katie Fraser visiting for the weekend. Elaine Fraser has arrived safely from her week-long trip to Belize, Central America. Auburn Women’s Institute catered to the dinner and theatre night with 28 people in attendance. Some were from Toronto, Lucan, Kitchener and England. Everyone had a very good Reeve declares intent As the time for the next municipal election nears, some local politicians are beginning to declare their intentions. Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh reeve Ben Van Diepenbeek will be on the ballot again this November as will some of his councillors. Van Diepenbeek’s main goal for A-C-W council briefs Residents get garbage pickup Residents west of Hwy. 21 in Ashfield and Colborne now have weekly household garbage pickup. Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh council passed a bylaw at the June meeting approving pickup from June 30 to Sept. 8 for this year only, on a trial basis. The program will cost the municipality approximately $5,100. Recycling bins will also be placed at the Ashfield and Wawanosh landfill sites at at cost of $1,800 for the remainder of 2003. *** A bylaw was passed to reduce time.
