Obituaries
RUTH E. VEITCH
Mrs. Ruth Veitch of Listowel passed
away on July 9, 2003 at University
Hospital in London. She was 58.
Bom in Listowel on April 4, 1945,
Mrs. Veitch was the beloved wife of
Ross. H. Veitch and the loved mother
of Rich, and Rob and his wife Erin all
of Listowel. She is lovingly
remembered by her mother, Mrs.
Marie Young, of Livingstone Manor in
Listowel and was the dear sister of
Janice and her husband, Terry Barker
of Mitchell. She is fondly remembered
by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Veitch was predeceased by her
father Gordon W. Peachey and
stepfather Howard Young.
Mrs. Veitch resided in the Brussels
area for many years before moving to
Listowel in 1990.
She taught elementary school in
Brampton, Central Perth Twp. and
Elma Twp. Public School before
retiring in 1998. She was also a
member of the Atwood Presbyterian
Church.
Visitation was held at the Robert
Trench Funeral Home in Listowel last
Friday afternoon and evening.
The funeral service was held on
Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Knox
Presbyterian Church in Listowel. Rev.
Mark Davidson and Pastor Fred Lichti
officiated.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery
in Listowel.
Serving as pallbearers were Don
Peachey, Nathan Barker, Brent Barker,
Jim Byatt, Scott Burton, and Keith
Schell.
Memorial remembrances to
Listowel Memorial Hospital Circle of
Care or a charity of one’s choice were
appreciated.
JESSE NICHOLAS DAVID
WESSELINK
Now safe in the arms of Jesus,
Jesse Nicholas David Wesselink of
RR4, Brussels passed away
peacefully at Children’s Hospital of
Western Ontario, London on
Wednesday, July 9, 2003. He was in
his seventh year.
Jesse was born on May 28, 1997 in
Wingham. Jesse was a senior
kindergarten student at Wingham
Public School.
He was the precious son of David
and Joyce (Blok) Wesselink of RR4,
Brussels and cherished brother of
Justin, Adam, Joshua and Evan all at
home. Jesse was also loved by many
aunts, uncles and cousins. He is
survived as well by his paternal
grandparents, John and Derkje
Wesselink of RR4, Brussels.
Jesse was predeceased by his
maternal grandparents, Fenna Blok
in 2003 and Garrelt Blok in 1984.
Friends were received at the Blyth
Visitation Centre of the Beattie-
Falconer Funeral Homes Ltd., 407
Queen St., Blyth, on Friday from 3 -
5 and 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service
was held at the Clinton Christian
Reformed Church on Saturday, July -
12 at 1 p.m. Rev. John Kuperus of
the Blyth Christian Reformed
Church officiated. Interment was in
Ball’s Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Justin, Adam and
Joshua Wesselink and William
Karel sen. Flowerbearers were Evan
Wesselink and Brenda St. Pierre.
Donations to Jesse’s Fund c/o
David and Joyce Wesselink, or to the
Pediatric Critical Care Unit of
Children’s Hospital of Western
Ontario would be appreciated as
expressions of sympathy.
R. STEWART MUSGROVE
Stewart Musgrove of Brussels
passed away peacefully, but
unexpectedly, at Listowel Memorial
Hospital on Saturday, July 5, 2003 in
his 85th year.
Stewart was bom on the family
farm outside of Wroxeter in
Tumberry Twp. on Aug. 10, 1918,
where he farmed from 1939 to 1989.
On Nov. 28, 1942 he married Vera
Zurbrigg who shared his life until
her passing in 1993. Stewart enjoyed
farming with his son Robert for
many years until retiring from
farming in 1989 when he moved to
Brussels.
Even in retirement Stewart
enjoyed a busy lifestyle. His day
usually started having coffee and
conversation with his buddies at
JR’s. He also enjoyed family visits
with daughter Faye and husband
Bob, son Robert and wife Doris;
grandchildren and great
grandchildren.
In later years Stewart and his
special friend Helen enjoyed card
parties, dances, jamborees and
drives to visit their many friends and
relatives. Stewart had a great zest for
life and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Stewart will be sadly missed by
his children Robert Musgrove and
his wife Doris of Listowel and Faye
Kluke and her husband Robert of
Kitchener. He was the dear brother
of Gladys Ellis of London. He was
also loved by his grandchildren
Kevin, John, Angela, Jeff and Dawn
and by his special friend Helen
Gallop of Brussels.
He was predeceased by three
sisters.
Friends were received by the
family from 7-9 p.m. Monday and
one hour prior to the funeral service
conducted at the Schimanski Family
Funeral Home, 401 Albert St.,
Brussels on Tuesday, July 8 at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Joan Golden of Brussels United
Church and Rev. Jeff Hawkins of
Wroxeter United Church officiated.
Pallbearers were Kevin Weber,
John Musgrove, Clare Van Camp,
Lloyd Smith, Jeff Musgrove and Al
Brodhagen.
Interment was in Wroxeter
Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made to
the Heart and Stroke Foundation of
Ontario or to the charity of one’s
choice.
WILLIAM GILBERT (BILL)
ELLIOTT
William Gilbert (Bill) Elliott
passed away at Hanover July 8,
2003. He was 81.
He will be sadly missed by his
wife Hazel (Bradford) and daughters
Heather (Glenn) McMichael, Holly
(John) McDonald, Gail (Ross)
Dobie and Laurie (Ross) Burk, 12
grandchildren, one great-grandson,
two brothers and four sisters-in-law.
He was predeceased by his
parents, four brothers and three
sisters.
The funeral was held July 10 at
Hanover Baptist Church. Burial was
July 11 at Auburn.
NORMAN “HAROLD” COOK
Norman “Harold” Cook of
Brantford and formerly of Blyth
passed away at the John Noble
Home, Brantford on Tuesday, July 8,
2003. He was in his 90th year.
Harold was bom on Sept. 22,
1913, the son of the late Leonard
Cook and the late Ella May Taylor.
Harold farmed in the Blyth area for
many years. He was a member of the
Blyth United Church and was also a
long-time member of the Blyth
Lions Club.
He was the beloved husband of
Zora (Bolt) Cook and loving father
of Ivan and Margaret Cook of
Goderich and Warren and Marilyn
Cook of Brantford. He will be sadly
missed by his grandchildren Jeremy
Cook of Goderich, Tim Cook of
Regina, Sask, and Shannon Cook of
Thunder Bay. He was the dear
brother of Russell Cook and his wife
Marion of Blyth.
Mr. Cook was predeceased by
three grandchildren in infancy, two
sisters Gladys Johnston and Mabel
Riley and by two brothers Orval and
Mansel Cook.
Friends were received at the Blyth
Visitation Centre of the Beattie-
Falconer Funeral Homes Ltd., 407
Queen St., Blyth on Thursday from 7
- 9 p.m. The funeral service was held
on Friday, July 11 at 1:30 p.m. with
Rev. Cecil Wittich, a former minister
of Blyth United Church officiating.
Interment was in Wingham
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Stewart,
Steve Howson, Bill Logue, Alex
Blair, Tom Cronin and Gord Jenkins,
all members of the Blyth Lions
Club.
Memorial services were held by
the Blyth Lions Club and by the
Royal Canadian Legion Blyth
Branch No. 420 on Thursday
evening at the funeral home.
Donations to the Blyth Lions
Club, Canadian Diabetes
Association, Heart and Stroke
Foundation of Ontario or to the
charity of one’s choice would be
