North Huron council briefs Road gets upgrades At the July 7 meeting of North Huron council a motion passed to cover the cost of widening, gravelling and grading Thresher’s Lane. The estimate for the work is $4,000. That figure is covered in the budget. The road, which comes off County Rd. 25 into the Blyth campgrounds, is going to become the permanent entrance. *** Three recommendations from the recreation and facilities committee were approved. The committee gives authorization to the playground improvement committee of Wingham to proceed with the sprinkler park project. There was no objection to the Belgrave Kinsmen’s LCBO application for a special occasions permit required for the beer garden during their ball tournament. The remaining funds pledged in memory of Brett Cameron for the aquatic centre will be used to purchase two benches and a towel bar. in the amount of $936.17. *** The health, social and cultural committee authorized deputy-clerk Kathy Adams to investigate the cost of engaging Peter Mulvey to assist with the hazard identification and risk assessment for the township. Bayfield home tour represents village’s past and present From fishing village to summer retreat to major tourist attraction, this year’s Bayfield home tour promises to represent the vi'lage’s past and present. The Bayfield Town Hall Heritage Society, a non-profit organization, is sponsoring the home tour to raise building funds for the preservation of the town hall in Bayfield's heritage district. The seven-property tour on July 20 includes a blend of old and new custom-designed homes and includes a luncheon (with a cash bar) at the town hall from 12 to 3:30 p.m. Admission for the tour and luncheon is $20 with all proceeds going to the Bayfield Town Hall building fund. Tickets can be bought at The Little Inn and The Village Bookshop in Bayfield, or by calling 565-2609 or 482-7455.
