Public School Graduation brings difficult goodbyes By Jillian Anderson On behalf of all the graduates, I would like to welcome everyone It’s hard to believe this night has finally arrived. It seems as if we’ve been here tonight. It is a honour to be lg this vale dictory address. waiting forever, and we look for ward with anticipa tion to our high school futures, but suddenly realize that we will soon face some very difficult goodbyes. While most of us head to CHSS, a few of our classmates will be head ing to Grade 9 at St. Anne’s or GDCI. After our many years as friends at Hullett, this will be a diffi cult moment. We will also be leaving behind the familiar caring faces of teachers and staff, who have been with us for many of our years at Hullett. In these past nine years, we’ve all come a long way since that first step on to the school bus on our way to kindergarten. We started out at Hullett on the junior side with Mrs. Bosman or Mrs. Kemp, and then Miss Whyte, Mrs. Walters and Mr. Sanders. We learned everything from ABC’s to multiplication. There was lots of fun stuff too, like huge birthday cookies from Mrs. Bosman and learning about medieval times from Mr. San ders. The senior side brought more responsibilities. Soon we no longer had lunch room monitors, we were the lunch room monitors. Senior side teachers Mr. Livermore. Ms Campbell, Mrs. Whyte, Mrs. Gilroy. Mme. Turcotte and Miss Wyatt worked hard to teach us all we needed to know to have a good start at high school. Mr. Drennan, who has enjoyed our company for three years and taught most of us for two, deserves a spe cial mention. We will always remember the hours of current events. He has worked very hard to prepare us for the transition to high school, and even though it hasn’t always been easy, he’s done a won derful job. Mr. Caldwell, Mr. Drennan, Ms Weise and Mme. Turcotte all deserve thanks for organizing and coaching all of our team sports. We also appreciate Mrs. Webster’s extra guidance, Mrs. teRaa’s com puter skills, Mr. Bosman’s great sense of humour and Mrs. McDonagh’s special touch whenev er needed. And let’s not forget Mrs. Tebbutt and Mrs. Miller, who were always there to offer kind words of wisdom and guidance. Who we are now, we owe in great part to all of these people, as well as to our parents, and to all of them, we say ‘thanks’. They have been our supporting cast, but never forget your own hard work and accom plishments that have brought you to this day. So where do we go from here? Do we know what we want to do when we get there? What are our goals? Our dreams? Many fun and exciting times lay ahead, and many opportu nities as well. We need to learn to recognize our own unique talents and strengths. Perhaps you are musical, artistic or athletic. Maybe you are good at making people laugh. Maybe you have not discovered your true talent yet, but that is what Hullett grads - The Hullett Central Public School Grade 8 graduates are, back row, from left: Josh Fryer, Josh. (Sarah Mann photo) high school is all about. It is a door into our future. We head on to bigger schools with bigger choices, more decisions and greater opportunities, and in all like lihood we will face new problems. We will accept these challenges with strength and confidence, because we have been given the tools to suc ceed. So tonight, be proud. Celebrate a job well done. A thank you to classmates Continued from page 12 can imagine it wasn’t always easy, so thank you for sticking ft out and believing in us and helping us to believe in ourselves. -Because of you and the support of our wonderful parents we are hope fully prepared for the road a- head. I, myself would like to thank my classmates who have been great friends to me throughout my years at Blyth Public School and wish you a happy and successful future as we begin our next chapter.
