Graduation marks the end of one chapter in life By Staci Dunbar On behalf of the graduating class of 2003 I would like to welcome parents, teachers, guests, and of course, tonight’s gradu ates. Thank you for being here on this day of cele bration to share our graduation with us. Today is undoubtedly one of the most significant days of our young lives, and it’s nice to know that so many people are here to share it with us. Today marks the end of one chap ter in our lives and the start of anoth er. Ov$r the years there have been so many memories that it’s nearly impossible to recap them all. Memories both good and bad but memories, nonetheless. To name only a few, girls, do you remember our basketball champi onship and how excited we were when we won? Let’s give a big thank you to Ms Gardiner for being such a great coach. I remember about a month ago, on our class trip to Ottawa during the dance cruise, I saw friends having fun, talking and dancing. I thought to myself, this is definitely some thing I want to remember. So I took a moment to look around and store the memories. People frantically taking pictures before their shot was gone, Evan beating every school on the boat at arm wrestling and Mrs. Blackmore and some parents getting up and dancing with us. Thank you Mrs. Blackmore for being so involved with your students. It seems like only yesterday that we began this journey. Kindergarten for most of us was our first time meeting. We were also so excited to meet new friends and see new faces. Kindergarten is where we learned the essentials - qualities so impor tant in our lives no matter what our age. It was a year filled with many ‘first’ experiences. Our first time away from our parents, our first best friends, our first boyfriends, our first bus ride. And through the years we made such a great leap. From playing in the sandbox and learning to read, to understanding a new language as well as our country’s history and how the human body works. Through everything we’ve learned, there has always been one common goal - one main accomplishment - to prepare ourselves for where we are today. And we certainly could not have gotten here today without the sup port and encouragement for our teachers and parents, who have touched all of our lives in one way or another over the past nine years. From all of the graduates, thank you. (Janice Becker photo) Graduating from elementary school marks a huge step in our lives. It is the first step from being a young teenager to becoming a mature, or somewhat mature, adult! As soon as we leave this school, the only thing constant in our lives will be changed. The most important thing to remember through all of the changes is to hold onto your memo ries. People will change, everything will seem different, but memories will last a lifetime. In closing I’d personally like to congratulate my fellow graduates and friends on working so hard to get to where you are today, and to wish you luck in the exciting years to come. I would like to leave you now with a poem that I found very Continued on page 15 Wishing you all a healthy, happy future Wingham Listowei 357-3466 291-4920 CongratuCations from BOB WATTAM'S BACKHOE SERVICE INC BELGRAVE, ONTARIO Trenching, landscaping, float service, trucking, excavating, auger service Mobile 357-6386 519-357-3069 Mike’s Mobile 357-7711 y.o.u.'u-e dntg, fu&t {Beguu!
