Worth the wait The sun was shining as folks with hungry stomachs and anxious taste buds lined up on Sunday at the Ethel Firefighter’s Breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon. It was a busy weekend in the small town as there was also a three-pitch ball tournament. (Sarah Mann photo) Stevenses S.W.O. 20th Annual Fiddle/Stepdancing Championships. The next card party will be July 4. win high On June 27 wish Barb Terpstra, Natasha Terpstra and Edna McLellan birthday greetings. June 24 is Isaac Baker’s birthday. Brent Evans and Karen Smith also celebrate birthdays this week. Don’t forget to celebrate Canada Day July 1. Joe and Bev Smith will be celebrating their wedding anniversary that day too. On Sunday many Cranbrook and area residents showed their support by attending the Grey Fire Department’s breakfast. There was an odd sight to see as many trucks with horse trailers arrived on Barb and Joe Terpstra’s dairy farm last Saturday. Neighbours could see activity starting on Friday when pens and cattle arrived for the Team Penning competition held on Saturday The neighbours and friends who turned out to watch were not disappointed with what they saw. The skills of the horses and riders were amazing as teams of three worked together to cut three animals out of a group to put into a pen down the field. We hope to see more people support when this competition comes back to Barb and Joe’s next year. It was even free. The 4-H Beef Club lunch booth was a hit as well. Hopefully we will have a list of winners next week. Many area residents took part in the three-pitch ball tournament in Ethel over the weekend. All were winners getting their exercise on the first warm weekend we’ve had. , BUSINESS OPPS, EXISTING LOCATIONS AVAILABLE - TrueValue Hardware, V&S Options, Country Depot.
