The Citizen, 2003-06-25, Page 2PAGE 2. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25, 2003. A NOTE FROM BETTY By Betty Graber Watson Call 887-6236 887-9231 Yippee, yahoo school is out! Lots of days ahead to laze and graze and do all the good things that don’t get done in the other months. Summer time is here and so we need to be ready to sit back and contemplate life. Using the idle moments to go deep into thought, to notice the crops and flowers growing and the sheep doing their'serious stuff. Yes, it’s a time for thought and renewal. Summer is also the unofficial time for reunions, sometimes done at the same time as a wedding and often on a designated weekend so everyone can plan ahead to join the fun that individual family units do. Good food, storytelling and lots of remembering make up the free agenda. It’s good to catch up with the lives of family and friends giving you lots to think about until the next time you meet. Ball tournaments as well as the regular leagues are underway so there will be a few sore muscles again this week as folks try to get into shape for the games. The camping gear is getting checked in preparation for the upcoming holidays. Time to check for lost items, items that are no longer needed and make a list of things that maybe should be added. Anticipation of this time each year is a mini holiday as thoughts wander to past camping trips that were filled with laughter and adventure and always a couple of good books. Before the next paper we will have celebrated Canada Day. Flags flying, firecrackers soaring, picnics and pool parties will all be used to mark the day. It was good to see this week, several of the national chains advertising items of the red and white hue, items to buy that will help celebrate this great country. There are lots of flags and holders, t-shirts, bandannas, serviettes and underwear. Just about every little thing in red and white that you might need to help celebrate Canada Day next Tuesday. The next teachers in our midst are waiting patiently to see if they have been hired. Any day now we shall hear a shout of joy after the boards make their decisions that affect the new graduates. Remind the children to play carefully as they get started into summer. Enjoy your time.
