Peck of RR 3, Blyth, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 in his 89th year. Mr. Peck was bom in Windsor on October 17, 1914 and was the son of the late Charles and Emma (Herman) Peck. He was the beloved husband of June (Quilter), and dear father of Brenda Peck of Goderich and James Peck of LaSalle. He is also survived by brother Donald Peck and his wife Jean of Windsor, and sister Evelyn Mueller of Florida and dear uncle of Lynda and Dave Pinnington. Also remembered by special neighbours Ron and Bev Walker and Jack and Sylvia Nonkes and their families. Mr. Peck was predeceased by a daughter, Ruth (1982). Credited with introducing soy­ beans to Ontario, Robert was active with the Canadian Seed Growers Association for 45 years. He was the first Canadian to win the soybean World Championship at the Royal Winter Fair and was the first to win the Victory Mills Trophy for soy­ beans. In 1947 he became the only Canadian director of the American Soybean Association Board. He was inducted into the Essex County Agriculture Hall of Fame in Harrow on April, 1995. Mr. Peck retired to East Wawanosh in 1976 where he became a conservationist, planting and nurturing thousands of trees over a 100-acre property along the Blyth Brook. He became involved in the com­ munity surrounding him and held the position of treasurer for the Blyth Centre for the Arts for three years. He was treasurer for the Wilderness to Wawanosh history book project, commemorating the 125-year anniversary of East Wawanosh. He was also a member of the Forestry Association and Auburn United Church. Visitation was held at the Beattie- Falconer Funeral Home in Blyth on Friday, June 13 from 2-3 p.m. The service was held at 3 p.m. with Rev. Ted Nelson officiating. Interment was at the Blyth Union Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Huron- Perth Lung Association or Town and Country Support Service would be appreciated as expressions of sym­ pathy. A luncheon was served by the ladies of Auburn’s Knox United Church at the home of Ron and Bev Walker. KENNETH MACKAY HULLEY Mr. Kenneth MacKay Hulley of Londesborough passed away peace­ fully, surrounded by his family at Queensway Rest Home, Hensail, on Friday, June 13, 2003. He was in his 75th year. He was the beloved husband of Betty Hulley. He was the loving father of Ian and Debbie Hulley of Clinton, Kevin Hulley of Toronto, Wayne and Ruth Hulley of Londesborough, Darlene and Dave Pullen of St. Marys, and Denise and Stewart Lockie of Port Albert. Mr. Hulley was the cherished grandfa­ ther of Crystal, Kimberly, Andrea, Whitney, Leah, and Olivia. He was the dear brother and brother-in-law of Maxine Marks of Seaforth, Audrey and Howard Hackwell of Walton, Don Hulley of London and Marion Hulley of Seaforth. Mr. Hulley was predeceased by son, Warren, in 1978, brother Eldon Hulley, and brother-in-law Nelson Marks. Friends were received at the Box and Smith Funeral Chapel, 47 High St., Seaforth, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held at Londesborough United Church on Monday, June 16 at 2 p.m. Rev. Ted Nelson officiated. Interment was in Blyth Union Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated. Flowerbearers were Paul Hulley, and Blaine Marks. Pallbearers were Don Hulley, Brian Pryce, Harvey Hoggart, Doug Wallis, Doug Hulley, and Wayne Tebbutt. As a tribute to the life of Ken a tree will be planted in his memory. ROBERT HENRY GOVIER Robert (Bob) Henry Govier passed away suddenly at his resi­ dence on June 16, 2003 in his 81st year. He was the beloved husband of Lois May (Hesselwood) Govier, his wife of 55 years. He was the dear father of June O’Connell and Nick Pappert, Stratford; Larry O’Connell, Mitchell; Peggy and Larry Colclough, Fort McMurray, Alberta; Ruth Boniface and Dan, Seaforth and Ross and Marilyn Govier, Kippen. He was the special papa of 12 grandchildren and 22 great­ grandchildren. Mr. Govier was the beloved brother of Dorothy (Govier) and John Lyndon, Goderich. His parents William and Margaret (Buchanan) Govier, brother Murvin Govier and sisters Alice Anstay, Margaret Caldwell and Viola Good predeceased him. Bob served in World War II and was a Legion member for 58 years. Bob loved his gardening, especial­ ly his roses.
