FROM BELGRAVE Good turnout to Club meeting Lome Campbell welcomed everyone as the Belgrave Community Club met on Friday, June 6 in the Belgrave Arena with 21 members and three guests present. Barbara Anderson introduced Ron and Jean Dann of Grand Bend who were visiting on behalf of the Zone. Discussions followed on how to improve the seniors meetings and activities. They stated that the seniors clubs were established to keep seniors active and healthy. Louise Bosman introduced Debbie Busby of Sweets and Treats of Wingham, who spoke on making various chocolate items. She then asked the group to choose ingredients they would like in both a white chocolate slab, and a chocolate slab. After all the ingredients were put into the dishes they were put in the freezer for 10 minutes, then tasted. Mrs. Busby had displayed various unique items she had made of chocolate and talked about how popular some items had become. She now displays and sells her chocolate to stores in Wingham and the surrounding area. She presented each one present with a chocolate flower to take home. During the business Donna Shaw reported that there were some seats available for the cruise on the St. Clair River, taking place on Aug. 6. Anyone interested coula call Donna. Registration forms are available for the USSO annual meeting Aug. 11-13 in Toronto. The next shoot parties are June 13, and June 27. The next seniors meeting will be Sept. 5. 1 Grey Firemen’s | Breakfast J Sunday, June 22J 8-00f Ethel HallJ s5/person, "jl kids under 12 free Family attends memorial Bill and Muriel Coultes and Janice Matheson attended the memorial service for the late Ann Cameron, in Humbercrest United Church, Toronto, on Friday, June 13. Ann passed away quietly in her home in Toronto on Monday, June 9, after having spent several days visiting with nieces and nephews in the Teeswater area, and with Janice on Thursday, June 5 in ner home. Ann was born Elizabeth Ann Pletch in 1920, and spent several years as a flight sergeant in the air force where she met her first husband, Frank Warrell. He was killed in action a few days before the end of the Second World War. Ann was stationed in various pla< es such as London, New York and Washington and was a decoder of classified material. Ann then married John Cameron (deceased) and lived and worked as a school secretary in Toronto, until retiring. Ann is survived by son Douglas, daughter Barbara (Steele) and son Steven, and two grandsons. She is also survived by one sister Hilda of Vancouver; one brother Tom (Edna) Pletch of Brussels, and one sister-in- law Thelma Pletch of Belgrave. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in the surrounding area. She was predeceased by sisters, Llewella (Armstrong), Gladys (Colvin); Irene (Sauve) Laura (Gall) and brothers Ernest, Sam, George, Wallace, and Steve. The family have requested that memorial donations may be made in memory of Ann to the War Amps, 1 Maybrook Dr., Scarborough, ON M1V5K9. Bikes stolen from deck On June 11 at 10:15 a.m. OPP were called to a home on Princess Street in Brussels over the theft of bikes. Sometime that night a person entered the rear yard of the property and stole two bikes from the deck, a red Haro Revo BMX trick bike and a blue Haro Cosmo BMX trick bike. The property is valued at $1,000. Call the Huron OPP or Crime Stoppers with any information that could lead to the recovery of the stolen bikes. At a family dinner held later he was given plaques of congratulations from Paul Steckle, MPP for Huron-Bruce; Premier Ernie Eves and Prime Minister Jean Chretien. Among those attending from a distance were Keith and daughter Kate Van Camp of High River, AB, along with guests from Sarnia, St. Catharines, Fenlon Falls, Glencoe, Strathroy, Waterloo and London. Letters were read from his grandsons Mike and Darryl Jardin who were not able to attend. His great-granddaughter, Kendall Jardin gave him a crown birthday hat to make him King for a day. Approximately 50 family members attended from Vancouver, Chicago, Detroit, Ottawa, Kingston, Toronto, Guelph, Vineland, Desboro and Ethel. The youngest member was 10 months and the eldest was eighty. Following the noon meal the afternoon was spent reminiscing and renewing acquaintances. _ . Aunts, uncles and cousins gathered at the home of Bill and 10 tables in play at Belgrave shoot There were 10 tables of shoot in play on Friday, June 13 at the Community Centre. Winners were; high lady, Louise Schistle; second high lady, Marie Stewart; most shoots, Lois Chamney; low lady, Ada Taylor; high man, Nell Johnston; second high man, Mary Taylor; most shoots, Steve Tripp; low man, Marie Park. Muriel Coultes, following the baptism of Mackenzie Muriel Wightman, and the Knox United Church chicken barbecue on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 15. Mackenzie is the daughter of Brian and Alison Wightman. Norman and Florence Wightman of Auburn also attended. Brenda Jones of Huntsville visited for a few days at her mother’s Betty Irwin.
