Congratulations to Tyler Stewart
on his graduation from Fanshawe
College.
Maureen and Brad Montgomery
invited Amy and Ralph McCrea out
for dinner at JJ’s Fireside Cafe on
Saturday evening, June 14 to
celebrate Amy and Ralph’s 49th
wedding anniversary which was June
12 and also to celebrate Father’s Day.
Thinking it was a party of four it
turned out to be a family gather
ing.
Those attending were Doug and
B.J. McCrea of St. Thomas, Maureen
and Brad Montgomery of RR1,
Blyth, Bradley and Ryan
Montgomery of Winthrop and
Tabatha and Sean Kieffer of
Beamsville, ON.
Blyth Swinging Seniors are invited
to Londesborough for a supper
meeting on June 25 at 6 p.m. in the
Londesborough Hall.
Trinity Anglican celebrated its
125th anniversary Sunday, June 15,
Father’s Day with a full house. Many
friends, family and neighbours
helped to make this a great day.
Bishop Bruce Howe gave the
blessing and had a sermon on
changes and how something as
simple as a potluck meal can bring
people together and give them a
chance to worship. People came from
as far away as St. Thomas,
Tillsonburg, Bolton, London,
Chesley, Uxbridge, Thamesford,
Kitchener, Windsor, Dutton and Salt
Spring Island, B.C.
Also celebrated was the
confirmation of Ashley Cartwright
by Bishop Bruce Howe. She had
family from both sides of her family
present.
A light lunch followed the service
and gave friends and family a chance
to visit and catch up on what has been
happening in their lives.
Greeting at Blyth United Church
Sunday, June 8 were Lois van Vliet
and Dianna Campbell. Ushering was
Elaine Brown. Guest musician was
Margaret Kai.
Cheryl Cronin and Avon Corneil
sang a duet Near to the Heart of God.
The children’s hymn was Tell Me
the Stories of Jesus. The children
gathered at the front of the church for
the story of how Father’s Day came
about. Sonora Smart Dodd was the
daughter of a farmer. Her mother
died when she was young and her
father raised six children. She
thought that there should be a service
to honour all fathers including hers.
In 1910 there was a church service
for all fathers.
Rev. Eugen Bannerman challenged
the children to think of something
their father had done for them and to
say thank you.
The drama club presented a
pageant for Father’s Day.
Judy Brown presented an
appreciation award to Deb Hakkers
for always being there as a member
of the church, a teacher and a
superintendent of Sunday school.
The children were given out
awards during Sunday school.
The gospel reading was taken from
Mark 5: 21-24, 35-43.
Rev. Bannerman’s message to the
adults was A Father’s Plea: Come
Heal My Daughter.

Seniors dine out monthly
Blyth and area seniors enjoy a
home-cooked meal served by
volunteers the first Friday of each
month at the Trinity Anglican
Church. This is sponsored by Town
and Country Support Services.
After the meal there is
entertainment. They have exercised
with the Tai Chi ladies, enjoyed a
visit from Lucy, a St. John therapy
dog and Daisy who will some day be
a St. John therapy dog. Steve
Beasley has explained Crime
Stoppers to them.
For Mother’s Day Deb Busby
demonstrated making chocolates and
of course the best part was the
tasting afterwards.
For Father’s Day they enjoyed Jim
and Leona Armstrong’s talk on
airplanes and their adventures at the
Oshkosh Air Show in Wisconsin, the
largest fly-in in the world. They also
told that 2003 is the 100th
anniversary of The Wright Brothers’
flight in Kitty Hawk.
Each time there are door prizes
and a 50/50 draw.
Reservations for the program must
be made by the Wednesday before
by calling 357-3222.
