The Perilous Pirate’s Daughter features an all-star musical cast including David Archibald, Sean Dixon, Bruce Dow, Gil Garratt, Mark Harapiak, Chuck Herriott, Tara Hughes, Randy Hughson, Kelly McIntosh, Bob Nasmith, Karen Skidmore and Lyon Smith. Audiences will remember Dixon, Garratt and McIntosh from last year’s sold-out hit The Outdoor Kicking off the Blyth Festival 2003 season is The Perilous Pirate’s Daughter, a swashbuckling musical for the entire family penned by for­ mer Artistic Director Anne Chislett and songwriter/playwright David Archibald. Performances begin with special student matinees on June 16, and regular performances begin on June 21. The Gala Opening Night on June 27 includes pre-show music from both the Blyth Festival Singers, and the Blyth Festival Orchestra. Post- Authors to visit Bookshop The Village Bookshop, Bayfield will present six Canadian authors on Saturday, June 28 starting at 1 p.m. at The Bayfield Town Hall. The six authors will read from their works and be available for discus­ sions and book signings. They are Andrea Curtis, Into the Blue: Family Secrets and The Search for a Great Lakes Shipwreck; Jill Frayne, Starting Out in the Afternoon: a Mid-Life Journey Into Wild Land', Wayne Johnston, The Navigator of New York and Colony of Unrequited Dreams; Barbara McLean, Lambs Quarters; Michael Donnellys. Artistic Director Eric Coates directs and leads the cast on a musi­ cal adventure from Niagara Falls to the Thousand Islands. Redcoats, rebels and plenty of romance lie in wait along the journey. The Perilous Pirate’s Daughter set and costumes are designed by Victoria Wallace. Lighting is by Louise Guinand. Stage managers are Michael Smalley and Angie Jones. The production is sponsored by the Government of Canada and North Huron Publishing. The Perilous Pirate’s Daughter runs June 16 - Aug. 9.
