leads service
FROM AUBURN
At Knox United Church Rev. Ted
Nelson’s message related to
Pentecost Sunday and was entitled
the Holy Spirit. The junior choir,
under the direction of Shelley
Worsell, sang Jesus Wants Me for a
Sunbeam.
The House Band, also given the
name The Saratoga Saints, entered.
Those with special talents are Ernie
Durnin, (mouth organ), Bert Moss,
Heather Durnin and her two sons
Marshall and Ethan, who played the
fiddles and Nancy Park who
accompanied on piano.
Shelley Worsell’s expertise
showed with her junior choir, who
sang their little hearts out.
Wonderful work.
Downstairs after the service there
was a special guest. Bugsy, the
Clown excited the kids, as usual,
with fun, games and treats.
Also thanks to the Sunday School
superintendent Heather Durnin, for

4-H meets
The second meeting of the
Wawanosh Mixers was held on May
30 at June Robinson’s. The members
brought muffins they had made at
home from the 4-H recipe book. The
types included berry, peanut butter
and jam. bran, and cheese.
Roll call was answered with the
name of their favourite muffin and
telling of any problems they
encountered while making their
muffins.
Members talked about possible
substitutions of ingredients that can
be made to muffins.
Members then judged three
different plates of bran
muffins,purchased mix, the bake
shop muffins and the muffins the 4-
H members made at home. They
considered appearance, texture and
taste. Most members placed the
prepared muffins mix first and the
bake shop muffins last.
Next they divided the members’
muffins into quarters and everyone
had a chance to try the various kinds.
They noted in their books what
muffins they would like to try at
home.
