awards
Balloons and flowers in the
sanctuary gave a summery, festive
air to Londesboro United Church on
June 8. It was promotion and award
Sunday and the entire service was
conducted by the Sunday school.
Words of welcome were extended
by Melissa, Damian, Kyle, Adam
and Eric. The four Sunday school
classes were presented to the
congregation around the singing of
hymns and scripture passages.
Matthew 22: 35-40 was read by
Kelsey and Zachary. Mikayla, Tyler
and Brent shared the reading of
Matthew 25: 31-40 and the scripture
verses Colossians 3: 12-17 were read
by Corey and Emily. All Bible
readings taught love for one another.
The meditation titled Give was a
16-year-old girl’s view of charity
and goodwill. This essay by Anne
Frank was presented by Jacqui and
Kelly.
The song, Jesus Said, and a praise
medley sung by members of the
junior choir were appreciated by the
congregation. During the receiving
of the offering Emily Allen and Barb
Bosman played a piano organ duet.
Shelby dedicated the offering and
the benediction was given by
Caitlyn.
For their leadership and assistance
during the year with the various
Sunday School activities
superintendent Deb Stevenson and
choir director, Barb Bosman were
presented with gifts by Mikayla
Tyler, Brent and Melissa. A donation
to the Mission and Service Fund in
her name was Deb’s gift while Barb
received a garden angel statuary.
Members of the congregation
joined the Sunday school for a
potluck lunch. More balloons
decorated the basement room and
sand pails filled with flowers were
the table decorations. The boys and
girls enjoyed some outdoor games
following lunch.
The ladies’ choir will practise at
9:45 a.m. on June 15.
Management of the West Nile
Virus will be presented by a speaker
from the health unit at the UCW
meeting on Monday, June 16. All
members of the congregation are
invited for lunch at 7:30 p.m. with
the meeting to begin at 8 p.m.
The UCW is preparing to work on
a new fundraiser - Christmas
stockings. If you could/would help
contact any UCW member for
information.
For the purpose of calling a new
minister, a joint congregational
meeting is being called for the
Auburn and Londesboro charges.
The meeting will be held at
Londesboro United Church on June
22 at noon.
