Airport
renamed
to
honour
Dick
LeVan

The name Richard W. LeVan will
be forever remembered in
Wingham.
While hundreds gathered at the
North Huron-Wescast Community
Complex to say good-bye to the
long-time head of Wescast
Industries Inc. last Saturday, North
Huron council ensured LeVan’s
name will be remembered for
generations to come.
At the May 20 council meeting,
the township agreed to rename the
airport to the Richard W. LeVan
Airport - Wingham after a
community group made the
recommendation to council.
The committee, made up of
community members and Wescast
representatives, wanted to ensure
Richard LeVan be recognized for
his major contribution to the
region.

The Auburn Horticultural Society
need a volunteer to help water
flowers and keep Auburn beautiful
for the summer. Contact Marg

have volunteer hours for school is
welcomed).
On Wednesday, May 21 the Silver
Tops of Auburn went to Anna Mae’s
in Millbank for lunch. After the
lunch the Seniors toured the
Millbank Family Furniture Store,
where they saw handcrafted
furniture, quilts, and crafts created
by the Mennonites:
Some went to the Atwood cheese
factory, Campbells soup store and
Tim Hortons.
The Thursday Coffee Club met at
Stickers last Thursday. They missed
4-Hers mix it up
The 4-H Wawanosh Mixers met
for the project Batters-Up at June
Robinson’s.
Meeting one was measure up.
For the roll call members were
asked to identify a large assortment
of baking utensils and tell of their
use. Some of the members were
uncertain of the pastry blender,
bundt pan and layer cake pans.
Leader, Mary Ellen Foran had two
quizzes, one on ingredients and how
they work, the other on matching a
description of a baked product to the
name.

SEAFORTH COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
SARS Update The Hospital wishes to thank the community, our patients
and staff for your patience and understanding during the provincial
SARS precautions. We also extend our sincere appreciation to all
Volunteers who assisted with screening duty at the door. Effective May
16th, restrictions have now been eased. Visiting hours have been revised:
now daily from 11:30 - 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a limit of 2
visitors per patient at any one time.
Hospital Auxiliary Penny Sale come and be part of the fun and at
the same time, support the work of the Hospital Auxiliary in
donations to patient care equipment items; make your selections on items
you would like to win May 27 - June 6, 2003.
Hours: daily 9-5 p.m. except Friday, June 6th from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
at 79 Main St. South (located next door to Dr. La Plante’s office). Draw
date: Saturday June 7th - sorry, no tickets sales day of draw.
Health & Safety Week was recently celebrated. One of several
educational opportunities included an excellent presentation to staff by
Chiropractor, Tom Devereaux on the topic of “Prevention of
Musculoskeletal Injuries.” Our special thanks to Monica Penner,
Shoreline Healthco for the informative display of products available to
enhance activities of daily living.
Hospice of Huron - Annual Hospice Walk thanks to all who walked or
made pledges in memory of a loved one or in honour of a family
member or friend on Sunday May 4th, in excess of $3500.00 was raised
for the betterment of Hospice Palliative Care in our community.
Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop - while in visiting a patient or for an
appointment, why not stop in and check out the many new items for sale
in the Gift Shop - there are many wonderful ideas for anyone.

feeling better.
