PEOPLE AROUND AUBURN By Margaret Fraser Call 526-1112 The general meeting for the 150th celebrations will be held on Monday, June 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Knox United Church. The spiritual reading was Luke 19: 1-10. On Thursday, May 8 the Clinton Bowling Club card party had 10 tables of players. Lois Haines, Frances Clark and Grace Cartwright enjoyed an afternoon of cards. Bible study was held at the Knox United Church last week with nine people in attendance. The next meeting will be in Londesboro. The annual meeting of the Huron County Historical Society was held on Thursday evening, May 15, at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Anglican Church, Port Albert. Paul Carroll, acting/interim co­ ordinator, welcomed everyone. Secretary-treasurer, Rae McFarlane read the minutes and treasurer’s report. The membership report was given by Jean Fraser. Presently there are 188 members. The topic, Plans for the Future - the New Bruce County Museum and Archives Facilitis by Barbara Ribey, museum director, was presented orally, with slides showing the present structure and the design of the new facility. The next meeting will be held on Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Huron County Museum. The topic is Early Lake Huron Commerce - Wooden Ship building. Horticultural Society holds annual plant auction On May 12 the Auburn Horticulture Society had its annual plant sale. They had a very good turnout. During the plant sale there was a number of door prize winners: Evelyn Christensen, Sherry Blay, Lisa Pot, Maureen Bean, Jean Nethery, Erlene Caldwell, Jacquie McKee, Pat Hulley and Elaine Fraser. Maxine and Bill Seers organized setup and provided the lunch. Joan Reinhart was the capable auctioneer again this year.
