150th needs PR person
Proud grandparents Bill and
Maxine Seers said their grandson
Shawn Reinink won a silver medal
for swimming at the Aquatic Centre
in London Feb. 18.
Jim and Grace Cartwright are
proud grandparents of Kelsy
Cartwright of London who was in a
spelling competition. Kelsy was
competing with three groups of
grade 5 students. She won the first
prize - a gold medal and she won a
dinner for her family. Proud parents
are Paul and Wendy Cartwright.
Her next competition is at the
Optimist Club in London and if
successful there she will proceed to
the next level in Waterloo.
Marg and Charlie Fraser are great-
grandparents once again. Grandson
Jayden was bom on Feb. 21. He is
loved by his three sisters Kristen,
Aysha and Zoey. Proud parents are
Adam and Kelly Fraser of
Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Ethel Ball hosted her daughter,
Arva for two days.
Margaret and John Hildebrand’s
granddaughter Grace Hildebrand
will performed in a music festival in
Goderich.
The hospital benefit card party for
Londesboro was rescheduled due to
the bad weather to Tuesday, March
12.
March 9 the Auburn Lion’s Club
Pancake breakfast will be served
from 9 a.m. - noon at the Auburn
Community Hall. The proceeds go
to the Children’s Miracle Network.
Auburn Lions Club held a dinner
and meeting on Feb. 19.
Melville
Guild
meets
The February meeting of the
Melville Guild was held in the
church parlour on Tuesday, Feb. 18
with 10 members present.
Gathrine Campbell and Margaret
Work were in charge of devotions.
Mrs. Work opened the meeting with
a reading, Spread Love Everywhere
You Go. Love Divine was sung and
Rev. Campbell read a story, Giving
Advice to People Getting Married.
The Bible scripture about love was
read by Rev. Campbell and Mrs.
Work read a story, Love Throughout
the Centuries, then showed some
family treasures.
Rev. Campbell gave a Missions
Connections report on Cypress and O
Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go was
sung.
President, Leona Armstrong
presided over the business. She gave
a report on the Presbyterial meeting
that was held in Wingham on Jan. 27.
Alice Marks gave a report on plans
for the World Day of Prayer to be
held on March 7 in Walton Church.
Alice Marks and Jean Bewley will
take part. Leona reminded everyone
about Guess Who’s Coming to
Dinner? to be held on March 7 and
March 8 and the pie making to be
held on March 22.
Sunday, May 4 is Mission Sunday
with the WMS and Guild members
taking part.
There will be a cleaning bee at the
church on March 14 and March 15.
The next meeting will be on March
18 with Alice Marks and Dona
Knight in charge of devotions.
A contest was enjoyed by all.
The 150th celebration is looking
for a chairperson to do
advertising/public relations. If
anyone is interested contact Jeff
Thomson, Daryl Ball, Brenda
Empey, or Cathy Carter.
The next “150th general meeting
will be held Monday March 3 at
7:30 p.m. at Auburn Knox United
Church.

The Auburn Women’s Institute
held their dessert and card party on
Feb. 20. Cakes, coffee and tea were
served.
There were 17 tables of euchre
and one table of scrabble.
The high man was Daryl Woods
and the second high man was Dave
Sproul. High lady was Jane
Giousher and second high lady was
June Robinson. The highest number
of lone hands for the pink cards was
Lois Cunningham and for the white
cards was Marie Park.
There was a very good turnout this
year.

Silver Tops dine at Stickers
The Silver Top Seniors of Auburn
had their dinner at Stickers with 14
in attendance.
Afterwards they proceeded to the
library hall to hold their meeting.
Maxine and Bill Seers provided
entertainment of charades and
contests. Birthday cake was served
for Lois Haines and Ethel
Ball.
The next meeting will be held
March 19.
