Brussels Livestock report
Light lambs cover $159 to $178 range
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending Feb.
7 were 2,163 head of cattle, 265
lambs and goats.
On Tuesday the fed steers and
heifers sold at prices $1 to $2 higher.
The cows sold on a good steady
market. On-Thursday the veal and
lambs both sold on an active trade.
On Friday all classes and weights of
Stockers sold on a steady market.
There were 521 steers on offer
selling from $109 to $113 with sales
to $129. Schmidt Brook Farms,
Woodstock, consigned two limousin
steers averaging 1,373 lbs. selling to
Norwich Packers for $129. Their
overall offering of eleven steers
averaged 1,520 lbs. selling for an
average of $117.58. One gold steer
consigned by Mrs. Minerva Martin,
Mount Forest, weighed 1,340 lbs
selling to Dominion Meats for $124.
Her overall offering of eleven steers
averaged 1,372 lbs. selling for an

agricultural safety topics.

awareness road show, will start the

On Monday, Jan. 30 the 4-H
tMachinery Club held its first
meeting at Vincent Farm Equipment
in Seaforth.
Leaders Allan and Carol Ann told
the types of machinery members
would be discussing.
The meeting was then turned over
to Brian and Paul. They showed one
video on safety and a second about
combines.
When the videos were over the
club members went and looked at a
combine and Brian explained how it
worked.
On Monday, Feb. 3 the. 4-H
Machinery Club held its second
meeting at McGavin’s in Walton.
They watched a movie on safety
and when it was over, split up into
two groups.
Brian’s group were told about
three different round balers. Jeff
showed a movie on how knotters on
small square balers work and also
gave a quiz on different parts of the
knotter. refreshments served.
