Love, HCPS virtue
Appropriately enough Hullett
Central Public School is
concentrating on the virtue, love,
this Valentine week. They are
learning that love is treating people
and things with special care and
kindness because'they mean so
much to you. Love is treating others
just as you would like them to treat
you - with care and respect.
Candy grams will be delivered on
Friday by members of the student
council. Candy grams are positive
notes prepared by the council with
complimentary comments which
pupils can issue to others. Friday
will also be a pink and white day.
The Grade 7/8 students will have a
dance during the last two periods of
the afternoon.

Sunshine, topic of United service
On a sunny Feb. 9, Rev. Nelson

Londesboro United Church, I'll Be a
Sunbeam For Him. The title was
reminiscent of the children’s song,
God Wants Me for a Sunbeam.
rhe text for the message was
found in Paul's letter to the
Philippians. Philippians I: 19-26
written during Paul’s imprisonment.
All of us need sunshine in our lives.
God will fill our world with spiritual
sunshine if we will let Him.
Rev. Nelson suggested three
beams of sunshine to live life by.
Firstly, one must get their priorities
straight.
Our lives will be filled with
sunshine il we glorify God
regardless of what happens in our
lives.
To live for something bigger than
one's self was the second beam of
sunshine offered for consideration.
Rev. Nelson warned that if pride,
ambition, etc. control our lives, we
will never live a full life. Rather than
living with an inward focus, God
wants us to leave one’s self behind
and give to others.
Lastly, we need to face life with

circumstances we face, sunshine or
shadows. A life based in Christ will
be a happy life. We have the choice
to walk on the sunny side by
choosing a life in Christ.
The opening of the responsive
Psalm 15, asks the question, “God,
who may be a guest in your house?”
The succeeding verses give the
answer.
Ecclesiastes 5: l-7 was the Old
Testament reading.
The senior choir introduced the
hymn, Long Before the Night, as
their morning anthem.
During the children’s time, Rev.
Nelson shared several jokes/stories
with the boys and girls, ending with
one about alphabet blocks. In
keeping with Valentine’s Day, the
word love was spelled with the
blocks. God has spelled out His love
for the children through the gift of
Jesus Christ.
The congregation was sorry to
hear of the death of Rambo, a St.
John Ambulance therapy dog. In
recent years, Jane Hoggart and
Rambo had made many visits in the
area to spread love and joy to the
new project, find someone to cuddle
with (after all it is Valentine’s) as the
forecast is calling for another whole
week of snow flurries.
The cold remains but isn't it a treat
to have more daylight at both ends
of the day?
And’last Friday we awoke to
another day of glorious sunshine and
trees covered in frost.
How many of you took the time to
marvel at the lovely snow crystals as
they sparkled on the fresh

The Sunday School did their best
to spread love on Sunday as well.
The basement was gaily decorated in
red and white for their soup and
sandwich lunch enjoyed by many
congregants.
