Obituaries GLENN ALLAN MCKERCHER Glenn Allan McKercher of Jamestown passed away at his resi­ dence on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003 at the age of 75 years. Born in Howick Twp. on June 8, 1927. Glenn was the son of the late Allan McGregor McKercher and Aux. meets in Terrace Room The Auxiliary to the Wingham and District Hospital held its first meeting of the new year in the Terrace Room of the hospital on Jan. 27. The meeting was chaired by President Brenda Anger and the meeting opened with the Auxiliary Prayer. Minutes of the November meeting were read by secretary Marlene Leedham who also gave the treasurer’s report in MaryLou Cameron’s absence. The corresponding secretary read several thank you notes. Lloyd and Sandra Reaman of RR 1, Wroxeter expressed their thanks for the attrac­ tive blue shawl that had been pre­ sented to their son Brad Kenneth - the New Year’s baby. The Doctor Recruitment Committee acknowl­ edged the donation of $1,000. The foundation committee received $5,000. A thank you plus a cheque from two Wingham stores The Workshop and Christine’s for the use of auxiliary racks was received. There was also a thank you from Catherine Wilson for the get-well card she received while recovering from hip surgery. Marie Phillips reported sales at the gift shop Nov. 15 - Jan. 15 were $945.49. Rhoda Blanche Henning. Glenn operated McKercher Construction for 30 years. During the winter months, he and his wife Elizabeth enjoyed their annual visits to Florida. He also enjoyed camping in the summer months and many enjoyable times were spent in Port Book cart convenor Pat Gaunt reported that Isabel Arbuckle is replacing Mary Williams. Although January’s hospital bridge was slated on a stormy day many spares were recruited and it went ahead as scheduled. The spring conference will be held in Mount Forest Monday, April 14. Any member wishing to attend contact President Brenda. .Marilyn Wood introduced Linda Wall, one of the nurses working in the new oncology room. She told the group that chemotherapy is being well received by patients using the facilities. A patient can receive the treatment closer to home and the waiting period isn't as long as in the larger hospitals. The program at the Wingham and District Hospital is carefully moni­ tored by the London Cancer Clinic. Wall along with another nurse Barb Pletch took a strenuous five-week course in London, had practical test­ ing plus an exam to qualify working in this program. Both these nurses ran administer 18 different drugs. At the present time they treat one to four patients a day but believe that number will be growing in the future. The next meeting is April 28 in the Elgin, Bayfield and Port Huron. Glenn was especially fond of fam­ ily times with his grandchildren. Glenn will be sadly missed by wife Elizabeth, and his children Ann Larsen and her husband Ron of Sarnia and John Allan McKercher and his wife Ann of Jamestown. Funds raised through the Blyth Legion Ladies Auxiliary-sponsored event will go to Clinton Public Hospital.(Janice Becker photo) was the dear grandfather of Heather and John Larsen and Robert and Jennifer McKercher. Mr. McKercher was the loved brother of Ruth Sharpin of Wroxeter and brother-in- law of Millie Nixon of Listowel. He will also be remembered by his sev­ eral nieces and nephews. Mr. McKercher was predeceased by his grandson Chris and infant sis­ ter June. Cremation has taken place. Friends were received by the fam­ ily one hour prior to the memorial service which was conducted Friday, Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. from the Schimanski Family Funeral Home, Brussels, with Rev. Linda Moffatt of Knox Presbyterian Church, Bluevale, officiating. Spring interment of cremated remains will be in Wroxeter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the CNIB or the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
