Volunteer toolkit with a rural twist The Valuing the Rural Volunteer Toolkit is now available from The Ontario Rural Council (TORC). The intent of this rural-specific toolkit is to stimulate rural volunteerism, support rural organizations in their work and lead to the development of new skills that will enable organizations to thrive in the new age of volunteerism. “Volunteers from a broad cross section of organizations were interviewed and i ivolved in testing and evaluating the toolkit. They contributed greatly to the final product,” expla.ns Elinor Humphries, Alpha Projects, who headed up the team that developed the tools. Participants at the pilot workshops said the toolkit provided “hands-on tools that could be used right away”. This 70-page resource is a combination of new tools and adapted existing materials.
