(Janice Becker photo) Women quilt for a cause By Janice Becker Citizen staff For the third year, the quilters of Londesboro will be contributing to A Celebration of Survivors quilt show and sale, a breast cancer survivor support project. As with each year, the quilts created by the talented women are special, dedicated to a family member past or present or to a survivor of cancer. This year, one quilt is being constructed in memory of Mrs. Nellie (Stanley) Lyon of Blyth. Several years ago, Mrs. Lyon had prepared quilt squares, but they had never been put together. That quilt will now be donated to the cause. A brightly-coloured crib quilt was made in memory of Sandra Mayberry and donated by quilter Helen Lee of Londesboro and her granddaughter Megan. A third is in memory of Luella MacPherson from Florence Snell. Each entry must also include a story, telling the tale of the quilt. On Feb. 2 the third Dart Ontario Zone 3 shoot of the season was held. Players from the Counties of Huron, Perth and Oxford travelled to the Norwich Legion to play. Area players finished well. Anita Little and John Verwey were first in mixed doubles, and Audrey Patterson and Murray Thompson finished second. Audrey Patterson finished first in Ladies Singles event. Lions host District rally Auburn Lions Club hosted the District A9 Region 3 rally on Jan. 30 at the Auburn Memorial Community Hall. One hundred and ten hungry Lions enjoyed a roast beef dinner.
