Women quilt for a cause
By Janice Becker
Citizen staff
For the third year, the quilters of
Londesboro will be contributing to A
Celebration of Survivors quilt show
and sale, a breast cancer survivor
support project.
As with each year, the quilts
created by the talented women are
special, dedicated to a family
member past or present or to a
survivor of cancer.
This year, one quilt is being
constructed in memory of Mrs.
Nellie (Stanley) Lyon of Blyth.
Several years ago, Mrs. Lyon had
prepared quilt squares, but they had
never been put together. That quilt
will now be donated to the cause.
A brightly-coloured crib quilt was
made in memory of Sandra
Mayberry and donated by quilter
Helen Lee of Londesboro and her
granddaughter Megan.
A third is in memory of Luella
MacPherson from Florence Snell.
Each entry must also include a
story, telling the tale of the quilt.
The women hope that 300 quilts
