288 cows on offer, D1 and D2 reach $62
Total receipts for the Brussels
Livestock for the week ending Dec.
6 were 3,271 head of cattle. 822
lambs and goats.
On Tuesday the fed steers and
heifers sold at prices $1 to $2 higher.
The cows traded on a steady market.
On Thursday the veal sold on a
strong active trade while the lambs
traded at prices steady to last week.
On Friday all weights and classes of
stockers traded on a steady market.
There were 791 steers on offer
selling from $104 to $110 with sales
to $124.50. Enoch Martin, Linwood,
consigned one limousin steer
weighing 1,405 lbs. which sold to
Norwich Packers for $124.25. His
overall offering of fourteen steers
averaged 1,464 lbs. for an average
price of $117.49. One limousin steer
consigned by Kada Farms,
Bluevale, weighed 1,385 lbs. selling
to Norwich Packers for $121. Their
overall offering of forty steers
averaged 1,616 lbs. selling for an

The Agvise Award was presented
to Ian Gordon as the Sodbuster
member with the highest total points
at the International Plowing Match.
The Old Mill Award was donated
to the Sheep Club member with the
highest score. Previous winners
were ineligible, so the 2002 winner
with a score of 939 out of 1000 was
Kayla Bishop.
The Helen Johns Award was
presented to Rebecca Bruton as the
champion 4-H Sheep showman at
the Seaforth Fair.
The Lucknow Co-op Award was
given to Sara Moore as the Novice
Sheep Club member with the highest
score.
The Doug Kennedy Award was
donated to Kayla Bishop as the
Reserve Champion Sheep Showman
at the Seaforth Fair.
The Canadian Co-operative Wool
Growers donated an award to
Melinda Dorsch as the 4-H member
who had the Champion Fleece at the
Seaforth Fall Fair.
The Rasmussen Award was
presented to Suzanne Coleman, the
member with the Champion Market
Lamb at the Seaforth Fair.
The Shillalah Farm Award was
donated to Elysha Townsend, who
had the Champion Ewe Lamb at the
Seaforth Fair.
The Milton Dietz/Purina Award
was given to Jordan Reddick, the
Chinchilla Club Show Champion.
The Georgian Bay Chinchilla Club
Award was presented to Matt-
Wilkins, Reserve Show Champion.
The Harold Storey Memorial
Award was presented to Shawn
Drost, the male club member with
the best book.
The Helen Storey Award was
awarded to Sara Moore as the female
club member with the best book.
The Huron County Pork
Producers' Award was donated to the
member obtaining the highest score
in the 441 Swine club with previous
winners being ineligible. David
VandenHoven won with a score of
882.9 out of a possible 1000.
The Bergsma Award is donated to
the 4-H Swine club member
exhibiting the Champion 4-H Gilt at
the Seaforth Fall Fair, with previous
winners being ineligible. Jenn
Logtenberg was this year's winner.
The John Watson Award was
donated to David VandenHoven as
the 4-H member with the Champion
4-H Market Pig at the Seaforth Fall
Fair.
The Bank of Nova Scotia Award
was presented to Shelley Kroes as
the champion 4-H Swine Showman
at the Seaforth Fall Fair.
The Huron County Pork
Producers' Award was presented to
Allan Storey as the Reserve
Champion Showman at the Seaforth
Fair.
The Bank of Montreal Award was
given to Jenn Logtenberg as the first
year 4-H Swine Club member with
the highest score. She had a score of
881.6 out of 1000.
Vincent Farm Equipment Limited
of Seaforth donated a trophy to the
top scoring member in the Huron 4-
H Agricultural Machinery Club.
This year's winners were Brian
Regele and David VandenHoven.
The Huron County Federation of
Agriculture Award went to Chris
Regele as the top Junior Agricultural
Machinery Club member.
The John Franken Memorial
Award was presented to Kaitlyn Toll
as the High Score Hot=se Club
member for 2002.
The High Score Novice Award in
the horse club was presented to
Courtney McDonald.
The Paul Steckle Award was
presented to the Huron County 4-H
junior member who submitted the
top essay on the topic "What 4-H has
meant to me as a 4-H member in
Huron County". Stacey Reinsma
received this award.
The Warden's Novice Award was
presented to Sara Moore of the
Huron Sheep Club as the novice 4-H
member obtaining the highest
standing on the basis of awards in
Huron County.
The Don Pullen Award was
presented to Corey Rintoul, as the
Huron County member who earned
the highest number of points on the
basis of awards for club work.
Rintoul had 947 points out of 1000.
The Murray Cardiff Citizenship
Trophy is presented to the top
member in Huron County who best
exemplifies the goals and aims of 4-
H. Their involvement in the 441
program, as well as organizations in
their community, church and school
are all considered. Other aspects
such as their leadership roles, ability
to communicate and overall attitude
are very important. The nominees
must be senior 4-H members and
have been involved with 4-H for a
number, of years_ Nominees for the
award were Kathryn Alton, Rebecca
Bruton, Michelle DeWit, John
Drennan, Tonya Drost and Stephanie
Munday. The winner of this year's
Murray Cardiff Citizenship Award
was Kathryn Alton of the Lucknow
Beef Club.
