Preparing for the season

village's Lighting of the Lights ceremony on the weekend.

MADD hosts
tree lighting
On Friday, Nov. 20 the Huron-
Bruce chapter of MADD along with
the Alzheimer's Society will be
hosting the Lighting of the Angel
Tree in memory of loved ones. This
event will take place on the Square
in Goderich.
MADD volunteers will be selling
doves that can be placed on the
Angel Tree and The Rangers will be
selling candles between 6 and 7 p.m,
which will be lit after the tree light-
ing ceremony. Ceremonies will start
at 7 p.m. Following the lighting of
all the candles, all will sing Silent
Night and proceed to the Angel Tree
where the doves will be placed.
After this everyone is invited to
enjoy hot apple cider.
UCW meets
The evening unit of Brussels
United Church met in the church
parlour with 10 present. The UCW
Purpose was given by President
Thanks was extended to the ladies
of the church who
Gertie Kellington.

40th anniversary of the UCW on
Oct. 20.
Food share boxes will be in the
front hall of the church from
November to December.
Money was given to Mission and
Service and the Women's Shelter.
Jenette Boynton was in charge of
the program. What a Friend We
Have in Jesus was sung accompa-
nied by pianist Nelva Scott. Laura -
Barbour read scripture from Isaac 2:
7-10.
Mrs. Boynton's theme was
Remembrance Day. Both of her par-
ents served in the war.
Joan Bernard read about the
United Nations and the Gulf War.
Joan Golden read the poem In
Flanders Fields.
MARGARET ROBINSON
Margaret -(Cook) Robinson of
Goderich passed away at Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital on
Monday, Nov. 11, 2002. She was in
her 90th year.
She was the beloved wife of the
late Ross Robinson (1986) and lov-
ing mother of Keith and his wife
Karen of Newmarket. Mrs.
Robinson was loved by her grand-
children Kim Robinson and Rick
Houston of Burlington, Kari
Robinson and Nick Puniska of
Toronto. She was the dear sister of
Zella Crawford of Goderich, Alice
Nicholson of Belgrave, Edith and
Jack Walker of Goderich. She was a
special aunt to many nieces and
nephews. Mrs. Robinson was also
survived by sisters-in-law Margaret
Taylor, Margaret Robinson, Jean
Robinson and Mary Robinson, all of
Wingharri.
She was predeceased by brothers
Harvey aral °,11.T.rt. Cook and her
parents Frederick and Etta (Black]
Cook.
Margaret and her husband Ross
owned a general store in Auburn
from 1967 until 1985. She was
active in her community and church,
and took pleasure in the planting of
flowerbeds around the village as
well as her own yard.
She will be remembered for her
skill in knitting, crocheting and tat-
ting, as well as being a skilled seam-
stress.
Her last few years were spent at
Maple Grove Lodge in Goderich.
She will be missed by the staff and
residents, and by those who came to
conduct the church services or enter-
tain the residents.
She enjoyed watching television,
especially sports. The Blue Jays
have one less fan.
The family received friends at the
McCallum and Palla Funeral Home
Wednesday afternoon and evening
where the funeral service was held
Thursday at 11 a.m. with officiating
clergy Rev. Roy Nicol-Macdonald.
Interment took place at Ball's
Cemetery, Auburn.
Pallbearers included nephews
David Walker, Doug Crawford, Ron
Nicholson, Jim Cook, Cameron
Robinson and Tom Robinson. Her
flowers were carried by Rob
Nicholson and Steven Robinson.
Her great-nephew Adam Walker
played the recessional Home to the
Kyles on the bagpipes at the funeral
home and Amazing Grace at the
cemetery.
Donations to the Canadian
Diabetes Association or North Street
United Church Women would be
gratefully acknowledged by the
