Institute members Marjorie Humphries and Leona McDonald attended the 50th anniversary of Lakelet Institute Branch at the Fordwich Hall on Wednesday. They enjoyed a lovely program and lunch. The topic is Institute and will be led by The Grade 4-8 classes at Grey Central will be attending Anne of Green Gables at Centre in the Square in Kitchener on Friday, Nov. 22. Parents should plan to pick their children up at the school at 6 p.m. Mrs. Bowler's kindergartens are learning the letter E. They are making their very own class book about cats and learning to, write the date during morning calendar. This week, Mrs. Smith's kindergarten C class enjoyed the poem Rub a Dub Dub, Three Men in a Tub. They are learning the letters S, ,M and N and the number 4. Miss Hill's class is learning about the letter J and are learning to add in math. The Grade Is just finished doing science on the weather and seasons. In health, they are learning about healthy eating and in gym, they are learning how to dance. Mr. Park's class has been busy leatning to read. The Grade 3s have been reading chapter books and the Grade 2s have been taking books home. In math, the Grade 3s have been The Majestic Women's Institute met in .the Brussels Library on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 1:30 p.m. Lucy Hesse, president opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and reading a poem entitled Dust If You Must. Members repeated the poem In Flanders Fields and observed a one- minute's silence. Leona Armstrong, secretary, read the minutes of the September and October meetings and Edna McLellan, treasurer gave her report. She announced that she had received a letter from the lawyer stating that Ida Evans had left a bequest o the Majestic WI. Mrs. Evans was an honourary life member of the Institute. Edna Pletch, Edna McLellan and Kathy Bridge offered to purchase material for a quilt to be made as a fundraiser in 2003. The secretary read . the Christmas shut-in list and Marjorie Humphries. Friends of Lila Storey will be pleased to hear that she is now at home. She is coping well and a cheery now or call is always welcome. Members from Walton and Brussels of the Seaforth Tvv' eens Ringette team had an exciting - weekend attending a tournament in Elora on Saturday. They played and won four games, with an exciting overtime win in the final game, to be the champs. Team members include Jody McIntosh, Nicole Williamson, Kristin and Lacey McArter. Congratulations to the girls. There were lots of Walton people who attended the Seaforth Christmas home tour including Anne Ryan and Marilyn McDonald. There was a terrific, crowd in attendance for the roast beef dinner at the Walton Hall on Sunday. Around 100 enjoyed the meal and hospitality of the Walton community Hall board and its helpers. Home for a few days visit with Howard and Audrey Hackwell is daughter Patricia and little Sebastian. He's been enjoying driving with Grampa Howard, and a trip to the forest. Birthday babies this past week include Brian Bryce, Danielle Ducharme, Barry Hoegy, Tristan Rijkhoff, Blaine Marks, Michael Grobbink, Pat Gillis and Charlie Gulutzen. making 3D shapes. The Grade 2s have been learning place value with lOs and ones. In spelling, they have been writing out their spelling words three times each. In art, they have been painting and making ghost eye trees. Ms Van Bolhius's SCC classes have been working with liquid play- doh, wood block stamps, and getting prepared for the annual Cane-o- Gram fundraiser. They have also been doing patterning and writing poems and stories. This week's biggest activity is creating an "Eggosaurus," an alligator made of egg cartons. Mrs. Murray's Grade 4/5s had a music quiz on notes, rests and beats. They had a fitness test in gym. The Grade 4s had a test on the human body in science and a French test. In science, the Grade 4s have started a unit on light. This week Miss Henry's Grade 7 class is starting a unit on the history of new France and a new unit on heat and geometry. names were deleted and added. Members were reminded that the Branch is hosting the birthday party at Huronlea- on Tuesday, Dec. tO. A soup and sandwich euchre will be held on Thursday, Jan,',9. Kathy Bridge and Leona Armstrong reported on the Huron County rally held in Belgrave and Edna McLellan gave the report on the Guelph Area Convention held in Atwood.
