Agriculture Brussels Livestock report Light lambs sell over $97.50 to $152 range Total receipts for the week ending Nov. 15 were 2,968 head of cattle, 494 lambs and goats. On Tuesday, lighter weight American-type cattle sold $1 to $2 higher with heavier weights selling on a steady trade. Cows sold at steady prices. On Thursday the veal sold on a steady market. The lambs sold at prices $5 to $10 higher with the new crop lambs selling up to $225. On Friday the calves sold at prices $1 to $2 higher while the yearlings traded $2 to $3 higher. There were 588 steers on offer selling from Murray 98 to $104 with sales to $116.50: M Shiell, Wingham consigned one black steer weighing 1,380 lbs. which was purchased by Norwich Packers for $116.50. His overall offering of twenty-one steers averaged 1.479 lbs. for an average of $99.58. A limousin steer consigned by Jerry P. Cronin, Dublin, weighed 1.215 lbs. selling to Highland Packers Ltd. for $109.50. His overall offering of five steers averaged 1.276 lbs. for an average of $105.16. David Bowles, Brussels, con- signed two limousin steers averaging 1,438 lbs. which sold to Holly Park Meat Packers for $105. His overall offering of eight steers averaged 1,443 lbs. for an average price of $101.56. Ten steers consigned by Charles Ready, St. Marys. averaged 1.361 lbs. selling for an average of $101.26 with one gold steer weighing 1,175 lbs. selling to Highland Meat Packers for $107. Walter Riddell, Granton, consigned two limousin steers averaging 1,085 lbs. which sold for $106. His overall offering of twenty-seven steers averaged 1,275 lbs. for an average of $99.95. Bruce and Kim Higgins of Morris earned second for wether or ewe lamb, 51-74 lbs.; second and fourth, pen of three lambs, ewes or wethers avg. 75-90 lbs.; first, pen of three lambs, ewes or wethers avg. 91-105 lbs. and second., champion and reserve pen of three lambs. Lee and Lila Rintoul of RR2, Lucknow placed first for wether or ewe lamb, 75-90 lbs.; first, ewe or wether, 95-105 lbs.; second, pen of three lambs, ewes or wethers avg. 95-105 lbs. and first and second, champion and reserve market lamb. they also took the Fred Hampton Trophy. Alan Hern, Woodham, consigned a blonde heifer weighing 1,510 lbs. which sold for $101.75. His overall offering of six heifers averaged 1,373 lbs. for an average of $97.27. Three heifers consigned by Tom Hern, Woodham, averaged 1,462 lbs. selling for an average of $97.26 with his top charolais heifer weighing 1,485 lbs. selling to Packerland Packing Co. for $101.50. Two limousin heifers consigned by Ken Dettman, Clifford, averaged 1,348 lbs. selling for an average of $96.92 with, sales to $98.25. Weber, Mildmay, weighed 1,775 lbs. selling for $80.50. - There were 123 head of veal on Sarah Hart of RR1, Listowel captured third for junior showmanship ages 10-21. An East Wawanosh Clydesdale breeder achieved success at the fair. Vaughan Toll's animals placed second and fourth in the Ontario bred and sired regular Clyde yearling filly class and fourth, filly foaled in 2001. In the Scotia Bank Hays Classic holstein division, Huron County 4-H earned second for the best group of three and a fifth in the Premier County or Province category. offer.
