The evening speaker was Reg
Cressman of Country Heritage Park,
formerly Milton Agricultural
Museum. since the government
cancelled funding a dedicated group
has come up with new ideas to keep
the museum operating. The Milton
firefighters have practices there and
in return water the gardens with the
water left in their tanks. The WI Hall
is rent-free in return for cleaning,
gardening and staffing.

Ushering at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, Nov. 17 were Doug and
Barb Howson. The service began at
10:45 a.m. with a prelude by the
Blyth Festival Orchestra playing
Orchestra Suite No. 2 by Johann
Sebastian Bach, directed by Sean
Kim.
Rev. Eugen Bannerman's story for
the children was about the space
station and the musical disc that is in
outerspace. There are many songs
on the disc including the one the
orchestra had just played.
The scripture reading was from I
ChrOnicles 5: 11-14. The dramatized
Psalm 150 was performed by
Chelsea Carter-Brown, Amanda
Bearss, Wyatt Bearss, Brandilyn
Bearss, Megan Watson and Amelia
Carter-Brown. The epistle reading
was from Ephesians 5: 18-20.
Rev. Bannerman's message to the
adults was Music; God's Gift to
Humans. Bach was a devoted
Lutheran and many of his pieces had
a religious background. It took some
40 years to get all his pieces written.
Rev. Bannerman reflected on
some of his personal encounters
with the music of Bach.
The orchestra played the third
movement of Pastrale by Elgar,
then later Flute and String Concerto
by Anton Vivaldi.
Remember, Dec. 8 is White Gift
Sunday and the Choral Kids will be
singing.
