MARGUERITE HA LI, A HAN
Marguerite Hallahan (nee
Sweeney) of RR3. Blyth passed
away at Clinton Public Hospital on
Saturday. Nov. 9. 2002. She was in
her 71st year.
Mrs. Hallahan was the loving wife
of Bili Hallahan. She was the
beloved mother of Kent and his wife
Julie of Belgrave, Paul of RR3,
Blyth and Christine Gulutzen and
her husband Bill of RR3. Blyth. She
will he sadly missed by her grand-
children Matthew and Stacey
Hallahan. and Christopher Gulutzen.
Mrs. Hallahan is survived as well by
her brothers Raymond. Leonard,
Jimmy. Alvin, Edward, and
Franklin: and by her sisters Anna
Mane Sweeney. Norma Grieve and
Betty Stafford. She was prede-
ceased by one sister Stella Wilson.
Marguerite was a long-time mem-
ber of the St. Michael's Church
CWL. Blyth.
Friends were received at the Blyth
Visitation Centre.. Beattie-Falconer
Funeral Homes Ltd.. 407 Queen St.,
Blyth on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 -
9 p.m. Parish prayers were held at
the Blyth Visitation Centre at 8:30
p.m. on Tuesday evening. A funeral
mass will be held at St. Michael's
Roman Catholic Church,
DrumMond Street. Blyth on
Wednesday. Nov. 13 at I I a.m. with
Father Lance Magdziak officiating.
Flowerbearers are Mrs. Hallahan's
grandchildren Matthew, Stacey and
Christopher. Pallbearers are Dale
Sweeney, David Hallahan, Michael
Grieve, Dwight Hallahan, Kevin
Riley and Brad Stafford.
Interment will be in St. Michael's
Cemetery. Morris Twp.

GERRIGJE "GERRIE" EXEL
Surrounded by her family Gerrie
Exel of Brussels went to be with her
Lord on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002 at
Listowel Memorial Hospital. Born
in the Netherlands on Feb. 7, 1911.
Genie was in her 92nd year.
She was the beloved wife of the
late Gerald Exel and clear mother of
Henry and Margi:set Exel of
Brussels. Everdina and Kenneth
Bender of Listowel. Eric and Nikki
Exel of Lucknow, Ada and Hank
Haasnoot of Fordwich, Anne Exel of
Brussels. Gerda and Randy Roppel
of Tiverton. Charles Exel of Ottawa
and Frances Exel and Gary Bergstra
of Shallow Lake. Mrs. Exel was the
dear grandma of 22 grandchildren
and 34 great-grandchildren. She will
be missed by her one brother and
three sisters in the Netherlands.

Huron East council wrestled with
the subject of the float for the Santa
Claus parades in the new municipal-
ity at its regular meeting, Nov. 5.
The current float is from the days
prior to amalgamation and features
the former Seaforth, now Huron
East, town hall,
Mrs. Exel was predeceased by two
brothers and three sisters.
Friends were received by the fam-
ily from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Tuesday
at the Schimanski Family Funeral
Home, Brussels. The funeral service
was conducted from Melville
Presbyterian Church, Brussels on
Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. offici-
ated by Rev. Cathrine Campbell and
Rev. Jack deVries.
Words of remembrance of Genie
were given by her son Henry and a
poem was read by her daughter Ada.
Musical tributes were Safe in the
Arm.s of Jesus, In tire Garden and
Jesus Laves Me with granddaughter
Malinda Exel as the organist.
Carrying floral tributes were Lori
Exel. Eileen Exel. Amy Roppel and
Regan Roppel. Pallbearers were
David Exel, Warren Haasnoot, Mike
Vader, Mike Fisher. Daryl Bender
and Gerald Exel..
Interment was in Brussels
Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy,
Deputy Mayor Bernie MacLellan
said. "I can understand it being
appropriate when it was Seaforth
but now that it is going into Brussels
perhaps it should be different."
He suggested a winter wonder-
land scene and commented after a
lengthy discussion, "I can come
back next week with a sketch and
you (council) can say yah or
nah."

HEATHER ANNE McDOWELL
Heather Anne McDowell of
Toronto passed away suddenly at her
residence on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
2002. She was in her 50th year.
Heather was the loving daughter
of Murray McDowell and his wife
June Lenhardt of Burgessville. She
was the dear niece of Ferne and hus-
band Hary McDowell of Blyth,
Lloyd McDowell of Stratford, Cliff
and wife Marg Walsh of Wingham.
She is survived by several cousins.
Miss McDowell was predeceased
by her mother Elaine Margaret
McDowell (1986).
Friends were received at the Arn-
Lockie Funeral Home. 45 Main St
W., Norwich on Friday. The funeral
service to commemorate Heather's
life was held at the Burgessville
Baptist Church on Saturday, Nov. 9
at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Caswell
officiating. Cremation followed.
Donations to the Diabetes
Association or the Burgessville
Baptist Church would be gratefully
acknowledged by the family.
