THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2002. PAGE 19.
The week around Walton has been
busy. The corn pile at Cook's still
there and huge. There were lots of
tired hunters from the week of deer
hunting. The ladies of the United
Church were exhausted from
feeding the over-700 turkey lovers.
The hunting group which included
Jason and Matt Shortreed, Steve,
Carman and Michael Bernard, the
Whites, Bakers and more managed
to hunt 21 deer. •
Harold McCallum and Larry
Nevers managed to get two with one
a nice eight-point buck.
The group that included Rick and
Scott McDonald, Keith, Bill and
Chris Siemon and others bagged 12
deer with Scott getting a nice eight-
point buck as well.
Unfortunately Keith Siemon had a
mishap with the all-terrain vehicle
and suffered some serious injuries.
We wish him a full and speedy
recovery.
Ross Bennett reports that he didn't
have to even leave home. He saw
deer four times right on his lawn.
Another group of Walton hunters
that included Kelly and Jamie
Dalton, Lorne, Les, Art, Roy and
Gary Glanville and others managed
to shoot 11 deer and have a good
week. •
Chris and Judy Lee have returned
from a fabulous week's vacation in
CanCun, Mexico. They stayed at the
Moon Palace resort that was
absolutely gorgeous. The weather
. There were only seven tables of
euchre players at the Walton Hall on
Thursday night. The top winners of
the night were Bob Machan and Les
Caldwell with with 77 points. The
ladies of Seaforth came in second
and third with Olive Papple and Beth
Pryce and Helen Mackenzie and
Huron East briefs
projects
After a short discussion Huron
East council approved a list of
energy saving projects suggested by
Facilities Manager Graham Nesbitt,
Nov. 5.
The approval was contingent on
the municipality being able to
arrange suitable funding from the
Seaforth and Brussels trust funds.
This would be in the form of a loan
to be paid back out of the savings
achieved from the reduction in
energy costs.
***
A policy on the donation of
promotional items for tht purpose of
charitable fundraising was
discussed. It was determined that an
annual. budget of $500 be set aside
for this purpose.
***
Reports on the Municipal
Restructuring Fund and the Seaforth
BIA were accepted before council
adjourned at 9:17 p.m. -
was hot and sunny with an average
of 90° each day.
They went to the flea market and
took a fabulous tour of the Mayah
Ruins called Chichen Itza. The
fantastic pyramid called the Temple
of Kukulcan is 24 metres high, 365
steps straight up. Chris and Judy
went to the top and could hardly
make it. They had to start back down
the steep grade on their backsides.
It was a fantastic example of
Mayan architecture that shows the
season changes, calendar events and
religious symbolism etched in the
stone walls. They saw other
structures including the Temple of
Warriors.
The area is over 1,200 years old
and they are still excavating and
constructing areas. They had a
wonderful time and would
recommend the resort to anyone.
It was nice to see a familiar face in
Anne Clark around the village as she
was housesitting and dog sitting at
the Lees.
The Godkins have had a busy
household this week. Daughter
Nancy and nine-month-old son
Jacob are here for a week's holiday
from Orlando, Florida. They have
been visiting brother Gary and
family in Newmarket, Ron and
family in Exeter and Donna and
family in London.
Sisters Dianne and Sharon came
home for the weekend as did brother
Bruce and family. This is the first
time the family has seen Jacob in
person.
Ross and Marg Bennett, Nancy
and Danielle Ducharme, Anne and
Celeste Ryan were just a few
Waltoners who travelled to Seaforth
to enjoy the last performance of
Lloyd Eisler and Isabel Brasseur as
they begin their final year of
performing.
Nanci even received an autograph
and spoke with Lloyd for a moment.
partner Jean Keyes, having 74 and
71 points, respectively.
The lucky lone hand winners were
Delores Howatt and Don Nolan.
Euchre is every two weeks. Don't
forget the roast beef dinner on
Sunday.

A Remembrance Day Service was
held at Duff's United Church
following the Brussels Legion
cenotaph service. Rev. Joan
conducted the service with the
members of Branch 218 parading
into the church.
The members of the WUCC were
hard at work hosting the Walton
turkey supper held at the BM&G
Community Centre, this past week.
Over 700 people were fed or picked
up take-outs in just two and a half
hours. There were many tired feet
and exhausted ladies but it was we!!
worth it.
Travelling to Sarnia to spend some
time with daughter Pat was Marilyn
McDonald. Pat was the co-host of
the 30th annual Big Sister Craft
Show and Sale. As a special part of
the weekend, 30 of the . Big Sisters
invited their mothers as special
guests to attend the very successful
weekend.
Doug and Marjory Fraser travelled
to Windsor to attend the wedding
reception of grandson Jeremy and
wife Renee, who were married down
south. Parents are Clayton and Bev
and they had a nice visit with them
before returning home on Sunday.
The birthday babies for this past
week included Jim Ryan, Chris
Stevenson, Kathleen Williamson,
Steve Huether, Clara Clauser, Mark
Bachert, Jeanne Kirkby and Darcy
McCutcheon.
The Home Tour in Brussels was
enjoyed by many from around
Walton. We did the tour on Sunday
afternoon and met many from
Walton. It was certainly a success
and the homes were all lovely.
Congrats to the Brussels Business
Association.
