Fencing
finally
erected
around
Huronview
cairn
Staff at the Clinton' Early Years
Centre recently had a surprise visit'
from Brenda Elliott, minister of
commmunity„ Family and
Children's Services. fl
John MacKinnon, social service
administrator, explained that Elliott
was on her way to a family
gathering at her parents' home in
Blyth when she noticed the Early
Years sign and decided to drop in.

A fence has finally been erected
around the cairn marking the burial
site - of former residents of
Huronview, council was informed.
Barb Springall, homes
administrator for Huronview and
Huronlea, said the fence had been
erected after the crop of soybeans
had been harvested. The farmer who
rented the land surrounding the
former graveyard had encroached
on the site to plant his crop last
spring. Springall said the rental
agreement with that user was up and
the land would have to be advertised
for rent.

for the year to the end of September
had plummeted to 4,279 compared
to 9,902 for the same period in
2001.
Septembers. circulation in Blyth
was 513 in 2002 compared to 703 in

A request from a Dunlop-corner
resident for the county to remove
nimble at the corner of
County Rd. 25 and Hwy. 21 will be
deferred until a new county
engineer is hired.
Gary Salamone had complained
the noise of the rumble strips was
too disturbing and asked that the
county find another way of alerting
drivers to the stop sign at I lwy. 21.
He also asked for signs to he posted
asking truckers not to use "engine
brakes- to slow down for the corner
and that the speed limit he reduced
in the area because of the houses
along the road.
The county roads department
commented that engine brake signs
are not among the signs approved in
the . Ontario Regulatory Sign
Manual and that use of such signs
would take away from the
effectiveness of other signs in the
same area,

The county will look into
