What dreary days Mother Nature
Is bringing to Ethel lately. Doesn't
this weather make everything seem
dirty, drab and dismal? Dare I say it?
YeS. perhaps we need a good
dumping of the white stuff.
And. I have come to realize, that
snow is a convenient way to cover
up all those outside jobs you didn't
seem to get to in the fall. I know my
husband stands by this theory
because although- there seems to be
difficulty getting some pre-winter
jobs done around the house, the
When the Brussels Bantams took

lead.
Chris Jutzi beat the Lucknow
netminder at 11:01 of the first after
-taking a pass from Nathan-Prior and
Steven Ropp. However, the home
team soon captured the lead after
bulging the twine twice before the
end of the frame.
In spite of drawing even early in

Bowers. Lucknow soon notched
three to put the score at 5-2..
Prior and Chase Chapman earned
assists on the Bowers goal.
After watching, the home squad go

snowmobile somehow found its way
out of storage this past weekend and
onto the trailer in the driveway.
I suppose there's always spring.
Many Ethel residents spent
Saturday working outside, raking
leaves and putting gardens to rest for
the season. Andrew Verstoeg and
some other happy rakers took
advantage of a leaf collecting
service that was in town on
Saturday.
Brubacher's seem to have had
quite a good week with the opening
of their restaurant. My husband took
our sons there on Saturday for some
pie and brought me home a slice of
pecan pie heaven.
Sometimes at night when I check
on our children before heading off to
bed myself, I look , the window
across to the closs3r .e.,aurant and
see Mr. Brubacher mopping as Mrs.
Brubacher cleans up after their busy
day.
Then in the morning. when I open

Water course
Students from Grades 1-8 at East Wawanosh Public School
enjoyed an interesting talk from oceanographer Gerry
Croxall. In addition to working on activities related to the
science curriculum, students saw actual ocean footage.
Croxall, who works primarily with sharks and killer whales,
talked about the ocean ecosystem, organisms and pollution.
He explained that the ocean has lost its capacity to produce
oxygen by 11 per cent. He also impressed the Grade 5/6s
during the presentation when he said he had been on the
ocean when there were 32-foot waves. The ones in the
movie The Perfect Storm were 35 feet. Croxall's visit was
paid for through fundraising efforts. (Bonnie Grp photo)
