Rev. Bannerman's message to the
adults was the story of Col. McCrae.
He was a Presbyterian and a Sunday
School teacher. He was never too
busy to lend a helping hand. He was
in the First World War.
He sought little for himself and
was always ready to help. He had
been a doctor in Montreal and
continued being a doctor while in the
war.
He sat down amongst the dead one
day and wrote In Flanders Fields.
He was always with the soldiers at
church and he conducted many
funeral services for the fallen
soldiers.
Rev. Bannerman concluded with a
phrase of Col. McCrae's mother had
often said "What I spent I had, what
I saved I lost and what I gave away I
had.
