enjoyed prior to Muffins
On Sunday. Oct. 6 at Londesboro
United Church, Doug and Cheryl
Trewartha served coffee_and muffins
prior to the service as part of the
Alzheimer's Coffee Break program.
Harry and Gail Lear greeted
churchgoers and Mark and Laurel
Mitchell received the offering.
Rev. Judith Vaclavik of London
conducted the worship service and
offered the elements for the
Sacrament of Holy Communion.
Assisting with the observance of
world-wide communion were Helen
Dale, Marsha Szusz, Brian Whyte,
Don Allen, Harris Snell and Garnet
Wright.
The senior choir's communion
hymn offering was We Gather Here;
Come Share the Lord.
In the Old Testament reading,
Isaiah 56: 1-8, God invites all
believers to His house of prayer. The
gospel reading from Matthew 15:
29-39 was the story of Jesus feeding
the multitude with a few loaves and
fishes.
Rev. Vaclavik spent some time in
Africa a few years ago assisting
missionaries. During her time there
she was part of a world-wide
communion observance. She
mentioned that even at that distance
during the service she still felt at
home and with God.
Although the atmosphere and
conditions in each country around
the world are different, the energy
service
and love inherent in communion are
the same, she said.
As she told the children, no matter
where we are in the world, God is
there.
God chose the elements as a
symbol of His gifts of love,
forgiveness and hope. Judith
suggested we need daily to give
thanks and appreciate the wonder of
life from God. Also Christians need
to be worthy of Christ's sacrifice in
our daily living.

Honesty, virtue at HCPS
The Scottish proverb, "If each
before his own door. the village
would be clean" is the support for
this week's virtue of honesty at
Hullett Central Public School.
On Thursday, Oct. 10, Geordie
The Auburn Seniors Silver Tops,
enjoyed dinner at Stickers
Restaurant, Auburn on Sept. 25 with
17 members present.
After the meal Ethel Ball invited
all to her home on the Ball Heritage
Farm. This is one of the first farms
in the community.
The president Margaret
Hildebrand was in charge of the
business. Minutes were read by
secretary Tina Empey.
It was decided that next month's
meeting would begin with dinner in
a restaurant. After the meal the
Productions will bring Christopher
Robin and his friends to the Blyth
Festival stage. Pupils from
kindergarten through Grade 2 will
attend this musical adventure of
Winnie-the-Pooh.
group will attend a special home.
Mrs. Ball, assisted by Tina Empey,
served beverages and an assortment
of pound cakes and fruit bread
before the meeting closed.
Knox United met on Sept. 29 with
Rev. Wilbert Schwindt as the guest
minister and Bernice Gross as
organist.
There will be a fall UCW rally at
Seaforth United Church on Oct. 17.
Contact Elva Armstrong or Bernice
Gross if planning to attend.
Rev. Schwindt sat down with the
children and produced an old car
licence plate. They spoke regarding
its use.
Scripture was read from John 3.
Rev. Schwindt's sermon was The
Greatest Love Story.
He spoke of occasions in life
when people have given themselves
for others. Each has one heart but it
is amazing how the heart can be
damaged and learn to go on giving
life with what is left, he said.
A good start
