Agriculture Brussels Livestock report 2,608 head on offer, trade holds steady Total receipts for Brussels Livestock for the week ending Sept. 27 were 2.608 head of cattle, 460 lambs and goats. On Tuesday the fed steers and heifers sold steady. The cows also were selling on a steady trade. On Thursday the good quality veal calves sold on a steady market while the plainer veal calves sold under pressure. The lambs sold on a strong active trade. On . Friday both calves and yearlings sold on a strong steady made On Monday. Sept. 23 the 12th Annual Show and Sale was held. The following is a partial listing of the results. Grand Champion and Champion of five: Andy VanderVeen, Blyth — five charolais x-bred steers averaging 1,302 lbs. selling to Norwich Packers for $113. Champion Carlot (Charolais): Cunningham Farms, Lucan — ten charolais steers averaging 1.467 lbs. sold to Dominion Meats for $102.25. Reserve Carlot: Kada Farms. Bluevale — ten charolais steer averaging 1,500 lbs. selling to Ryding Regency for $99. Reserve pen of five: Glen Walker, Wingham — five limousin heifers averaging 1.227 lbs. sold to Norwich Packers for $106, Limousin pen of five: Gilbert Janssen, Hanover, consigned five limousin steers averaging 1,162 lbs. selling to Dominion Meats for $103.50. Angus Carlot: Murray Shiell. Wingham, consigned five black steers averaging 1,456 lbs. selling to Howatt Bros. for $101.25. Hereford Carlot: ten hereford steers consigned by Murray Shiell, Wingham. averaged 1,526 lbs. which were purchased by Howatt Bros. for $93. Cross-Bred heifers carlot: A joint project of the County of Huron and Ministry of Agriculture and Food is being launched this fall. With fanding from Agri- culture and Agri-Food Canada, this new brochure will feature any food producer in Huron County. Participation forms will be mailed out to approximately 130 producers during the week of Sept. 30.
