Plans are well underway for the
elimination draw and tickets are
going well.
FROM BRUSSELS Case keeps police busy
Huron OPP have been working on
a difficult case for the last two
weeks.
On Aug. 2 at approximately 1:30
a.m. OPP were contacted over
somepne driving a truck pulling a
trailer in an erratic manner in
Morris-Turnberry. Within 15
minutes several calls were received
regarding driving that was
destroying property and could cause
the death of someone on the road.
The first citizen reported that the
truck had deliberately struck and
destroyed a stop sign at the
intersection of Clyde Line and
Brownstown Road in Morris. Also
the truck was doing donuts in the
intersection before speeding off,
crossing a lawn of a residence
leaving ruts in the grass.
A second caller reported the same
truck smashing the stop sign at the
intersection of Brandon Road and
Clyde Line. This time the vehicle
left the roadway entered a ditch,
then struck a fence before doing
high speed turns in the farmer's
field. A trailer became disconnected
at this location coming to rest
partially blocking a farmer's
driveway.
The truck sped away and was next
spotted on Clegg Line again doing
donuts, destroying stop signs and
making high power turns in the
intersection. The truck then left the
roadway entered a field where the
driver was doing the same type of
dri' ing. This time the driver lost
control rolling the truck several
times.
A young male wearing no shirt
was seen fleeing the area on foot
running towards a nearby bush.
Officers search the area but the
young man was able to escape. The
truck was a green 1999 Dodge
extend-a-cab. It was completely
destroyed by the suspect. The trailer
a 1998 Jamco was also heavily
damaged in the case.
Officers attempted to contact the
owner, who the next day reported
the truck and trailer stolen from a
site in Brussels. The owners said the
truck had been left at the workshop
the evening before and was stolen
through the night.
Huron OPP are looking for a
young white male on charges of
theft, mischief, fail to remain and
other offences.
Police said, the person responsible
has to be from the Brussels area. He
would have experienced some
minor injuries in the crash.
VEHICLE DRIVES THROUGH
CROP
On Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. a person
reported property damage done on
Beechwood Line in Grey part of
Huron East.
During the night at approximately
2 a.m. a car was seen leaving the
roadway and driving through a
soybean field causing damage to the
crop. The vehicle then came back
onto the roadway driving a short
distance before occupants threw a
bottle at the windshield of a van. An
occupant inside the van was waiting
for work when the incident took
place.
Huron OPP would appreciate any
help that the public could provide in
finding the people responsible in
either of these cases.
Anyone with information is asked
to call the Huron OPP or Crime
Stoppers.
