Brussels Livestock report
155 veal on offer, beef cover $105 to $118 range
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending July
26 were 1,959 head of cattle, 732
lambs and goats.
On Tuesday the fed steers and
heifers traded at prices $2 to $3
higher. The cows sold $2 lower. On
Thursday the veal sold at prices $2
to $4 higher while the lambs traded
on a market steady to last week. On
Friday calves sold on a strong,
steady market with the yearlings
selling $1 higher.
There were 535 steers on offer
selling from $100 to $104 with sales
to $110. Schmidt Brook Farms,
Woodstock, consigned one red steer
weighing 1,435 lbs. which sold to
Holly Park Meat Packers for
$107.25. Their overall consignment
of eleven steers averaged 1,498 lbs.
and sold for an average of $103.51.
Two gold steers consigned by Kada
Farms, Bluevale, averaged 1,415 lbs.
which sold for $106.75. Their
overall consignment of seventy-two
steers averaged 1,372 lbs. for an
average of $102.94.
Amzi Wideman, Listowel,
consigned one gold steer weighing
1,395 lbs. which sold to Dominion
Meats for $105.75. Fourteen black
steers consigned by Bob Johnston,
Chesley, averaged 1,285 lbs. selling
for an average of $104.45. with his
top five steers averaging 1,326 lbs.

charolais steer weighing 1,490 lbs.

cow weighing 1,315 lbs. which sold
for $79.50. Three gold cows
consigned by Pilgrim Farms, Cargill,
averaged 1,445 lbs. selling for an
average of $68.70 with his top cow
weighing 1,345 lbs. selling to
Aylmer Meat Packers for $77.50.
