Brooks for baptism.
Rev. Bannerman spoke of the first
Father's Day service held in
Spokane, Washington in 1910. It
wasn't until 1966 that President
Lyndon Johnston signed a
declaration to establish the third
Sunday in June as Father's Day and
it became a national holiday.
His sermon was about a
remarkable teenager who became
Israel's favourite son and father of
the wisest man who ever ruled
Israel. The King selected David
because of his right heart for the
right stuff.

An appropriate remembrance
When Shaun Alexander Vir died suddenly nearly two years ago the members of his mother's
investment club decided to do something in memory of the young man who loved the
outdoors. They decided to support the Trans Canada Trail in his name and dedicate a book to
the library in Blyth where he grew up. The presentation was made recently to, back left Pat
Brigham, Blyth Branch supervisor, by Joan Lindsay, Joan Wood, Norma Ogryzlo, Margaret
McGovern, Elizabeth Becker and Jane Simpson. Shaun's mother, Linda Vir holds the book
presented to the library with Lynda Heath and Beverley Brown beside her. (David Blaney photo)
